Chapter 294

[‘Space - 3’? JiHan joined the Master League and climbs again.]

[What sort of guild mission did JiHan receive? The Bloom Guild says they're going to replace guild members.]

[Although the rewards haven't been revealed yet, every ranker is lining up.]

[The minimum GP requirement is 200 million GP? Competition intensifies among guilds.]

JiHan’s guild mission didn’t even have any rewards listed yet, but there was still significant public interest. Since the rewards would be given for advancing to ‘Space - 3’, everyone believed some amazing things would be on offer.

"I cut application off at 500th rank… but it seemed that wasn't necessary. All of the top 100 players applied." As if she’d been expecting it to happen, HaYeon was calmly sorting through the applications in the Bloom Guild’s office.

She continued with, "People who are behind in the rankings want to enter even if they have to pay two or three times more GP… What should we do? There was even someone who offered 10 times more."

JiHan considered it for a moment and said, "Make them compete a bit and then make the cut-off based on the rankings. After all, the people in the top 100 can afford to pay that much GP." Even if lower-ranked players were willing to pay more, the ones who were higher-ranked had enough assets to afford the cost.

"Okay,” HaYeon said, “then regarding the negotiation period…"

"Let's end it today. There's no need to drag out the negotiations for too long."

"Understood. I'll finish the negotiations by this evening." Feeling motivated, HaYeon led the team that would be in charge of the negotiations. The Bloom Guild was the one with the last say in the player selection, after all.

JiHan observed the guild office for a moment. "Our guild has quite a bit more staff now."

"Yes,” HaYeon said. “A lot of things have been happening recently. I heard all these people were cleared by the National Intelligence Service to prevent incidents like last time. The guild treats employees well, which is why, whenever a recruitment notice is posted, a lot of people flock in."

"Is that so?" JiHan mumbled.

"Shouldn't you care a bit more about guild happenings, Uncle?" Sae-ah asked.

"I'm sure HaYeon is more than capable of doing a good job either way." The reason the Bloom Guild was created in the first place was to benefit from the growth bonuses. Naturally, the guild’s core was HaYeon's nurturing gift. That aside, she even took care of the guild’s daily operations, so JiHan had no intention of interfering.

'Choosing HaYeon as the guild master was a good choice.' JiHan smiled in satisfaction upon seeing the guild work well, even without him getting involved, and returned to the penthouse. As he stepped inside, he saw someone had been waiting for him.

"Hi." Sofia was already there, drinking coffee in the living room.

"Sofia?" JiHan said in surprise.

"Ah, Sofia. Did you come to use the training room today too?" Sae-ah asked, waving at the other woman while standing just behind JiHan. It seemed that she was used to Sofia being there.

"Yes, thanks, Sae-ah."

"Sofia has been using the training room a lot, just like HaYeon," Sae-ah explained.

"Really?” JiHan asked. “I’m surprised we haven't run into each other more often."

"That's because you’re hardly ever at home." Sofia slightly pouted but soon changed her expression. "JiHan~ Can I really join the guild mission? I still haven't reached the top 100."

"Of course."

"Fufu. I heard that only the America First members among the top 100 were chosen. If you're allowing me anyway, then does that mean I've become a true member of the Bloom Guild?"

Sofia was an America First member who was there on loan. Still, she'd gone to South Korea to inherit the Holy Fire from her constellation, and she'd been putting a lot of effort into becoming a true member of the Bloom Guild.

Since JiHan was absent so much, she’d also been trying to have good relationships with Sae-ah, HaYeong, and the others in the guild. What mattered most, though, was what JiHan wanted. He was the owner of the guild, after all.

He looked at Sofia, whose eyes were sparkling. "Do you want to join that badly?"

"Yes! I've already told America First!"

"What did you tell them?"

"I told them not to pay me a salary since I could leave at any time."

"Understood. Then you may join."

"Oh, Uncle, what happened?" Sae-ah asked.

"Well, I thought there would be no point in refusing anymore."

"Really?!"

"Yes."

"Yes! Finally!" Sofia happily jumped around for a while.

"Are you really that happy?" JiHan asked.

"Of course~ Hehe." She sat back down again with a smile on her face and took another sip of coffee. "Early in the morning, I heard from my constellation that the Holy Fire transmission might be delayed, so I was disappointed. I wasn't expecting such good news in the afternoon. This is great!"

"Why was it delayed?"

"Ah, my constellation said she would be prophesizing for a while. She told me…" Sofia suddenly paused and looked at Sae-ah. "Ah, Sae-ah. I'm sorry. The constellation said I should only tell JiHan…"

"Okay." Sae-ah returned to her room.

Sofia closed her eyes and held out her palms.

Fwoosh—!

A white flame burst forth. The Holy Fire, which was more intense than before, began to float and then flew toward JiHan. "My constellation said that the third technique was probably related to this Holy Fire."

"Is that so?"

"Yes. She also said that this power is probably related to ‘Apocalypse implementation’."

Before JiHan used the Frozen Sky Sword Rain, Pythia thought the fire was hers. Since that wasn't the case, did she think it was the third servant’s?

'Hmm… I don't think it's Apocalypse Implementation.' JiHan frowned. He’d forgotten the name of the third technique, but he didn’t think it was something so grand. No, rather than that, he felt confusion. Something like, ‘Why is something like this a God-killing Technique?’

'I should have written it down…' JiHan thought while looking at the Holy Fire before him. It was the first time he'd seen the Holy Fire after obtaining the Red stat. "Can I absorb this?" he asked.

"Of course~"

JiHan extended his hand to the Holy Fire. When he did so, it instantly entered his body and moved toward the Red pattern, where it was cleanly absorbed.

'Oh.' Was it because he'd obtained the Red stat? He could somewhat understand the essence of the Holy Fire. 'It has properties of both fire and water.' The two attributes shouldn’t have been mixable, but the Holy Fire somehow contained water-attribute energy within. Even he, who had the Red stat, couldn't understand how it worked.

Psst—

Just when he was about to start analyzing it more seriously, the fire went out. "Could you use it one more time?" he asked.

"The Holy Fire? Of course!"

He continued to have her create it and then proceeded to absorb it many times in an attempt to analyze it, but… 'I still don't understand.' He was ultimately unable to grasp how the Holy Fire could utilize both fire and water in such a way. As he pondered deeply on it…

"I… I'll do it again…!" Sofia, much paler than before, was sweating profusely and struggling to ignite her Holy Fire again.

"Let's do it next time,” JiHan said. “I can't grasp it yet because I'm still lacking."

"Ah… Ahhh… Okay." Sofia sighed in relief and collapsed on the floor. After catching her breath, she suddenly remembered something her constellation had said. "Ah, that's right. My constellation said that, due to interference, she wouldn't be able to send you messages for a bit and that she would communicate through me for the time being."

"Who would interfere with a constellation?" JiHan asked.

"I also don't know… However, she asked me to ensure there wasn’t anyone around when I relayed her message."

"So that's why you asked Sae-ah to leave."

"Yes. She asked me to be especially wary of players with a constellation."

Players with a constellation… 'Could Gilgamesh be interfering?' JiHan thought of Gilgamesh, who'd recently become the sponsoring constellation of numerous players.

'Gilgamesh and Pythia are both the Wandering Martial God's servants, so why would one interfere with the other?' Even if Gilgamesh held a special position among the Wandering Martial God's servants, was something like that possible?

He thought there might be another being involved, too, but since he didn't have much information, he couldn't speculate. 'I'll have to ask her directly later.' It seemed that, until Pythia could message him directly again, he would need Sofia's intermediation.

"JiHan, shall I take this opportunity and naturalize to South Korea?!"

"About that… let's think about it a bit more." JiHan dissuaded Sofia, who, after regaining her energy, immediately wanted to become Korean.

[The 'Bloom Guild' has been assigned to the special defense map 'North Wall'.]

[Defend against unknown entities that are invading from beyond the giant wall.]

[You will receive a species buff until the 10th wave.]

Flash—!

When the game began, players from the Bloom Guild started to be summoned to the map. Those players, who were mostly among the top 100 in the rankings, were Earth's elite. Still, they were still nervous because it was a guild mission that JiHan had received.

"Is this the North Wall…?"

"It's kind of disappointing."

"It's as big as South Gate's wall."

The players were puzzled upon seeing the ‘North Wall’. A white wall stretched across the northern side. Sun shone south of the wall, and the north side was dark in a stark contrast.

Then…

"There's something over there…!"

Something began moving in the dark—hordes of giant worms shining with blue light.

"Ugh… Bugs from the start?"

'They're quite fast,’ JiHan thought. ‘They're already climbing the walls."

"Mr. Sung, what should we do?"

JiHan took Eclipse out.

Combined Origin Divine Arts Three Talents Technique: Thousand-soldier Sweep.

Slash—!

He cut down every worm scaling the wall in a single stroke. 'Weak.' He turned to the ranker and said, "They don't seem to be very strong. Would you like to try taking them down? I'll be the backup."

"Understood!" Encouraged by JiHan saying he would back them up in case something happened, the rankers began to hunt down the invaders. In the end, it was an overwhelming victory for the Bloom Guild.

"What?" a player mumbled.

"Why are they so weak?" someone else wondered.

"That was easier than I thought…"

[You've cleared the 1st wave.]

This one-sided annihilation wasn't something exclusive to the 1st wave.

[You've cleared the 10th wave.]

Thanks to the species buff, it continued until the 10th wave.

[You've cleared the buff wave.]

[The Bloom Guild's leader will receive the 'Guild Symbol'.]

Flash—!

A silver hexahedron appeared in JiHan's palm.

[You've cleared the buff wave without any guild members dying.]

[The 'Guild Symbol' has been upgraded to 'Guild Symbol +2'.]

Along with an additional message, the symbol became bigger, and the color changed to gold.

[Using the Guild Symbol, you can manage the North Wall's defense more efficiently.]

[If you catch and absorb another guild’s symbol, yours will be enhanced.]

'Another guild’s symbol?' JiHan hadn’t seen signs of other guilds yet. Did that mean other species would appear from the 11th wave?

WHOOM—!

"Huh, wh-what?!" a player exclaimed.

"Why's the wall…!"

The North Wall started to expand where the humans were standing. The intersection of the sunny and dark areas, which seemed endless, began soaring into the air and soon formed a new giant wall.

Giant octopi charged forward from the new wall section, wriggling their tentacles and trying to surround the human players.

“So a new guild has appeared,” one of the aliens said.

“These guys look weak.”

“They're prey.”

“Hand over the symbol, then you won't be eliminated.” One of the octopus players extended its tentacles toward JiHan’s hand.

Swoosh—!

Based on their hostile welcome, they were definitely Battle Net players.

JiHan smirked as he saw the huge tentacles heading toward him. 'To think they would have such an attitude… I should thank them.' It would be self-defense if he took their symbol, right?

He casually waved Eclipse, sending the tentacles falling to the ground.

Tsss—!

JiHan didn't stop there. He moved toward where the octopus leader was and extended his hand.

"Hey, hand it over," he said, seeming refreshed.
