Chapter 295

“How arrogant,” the giant octopus said, and new tentacles immediately sprang out from the stumps of the ones JiHan had severed. On top of that, the tentacles that had fallen to the ground started moving on their own and attacking the human players. It didn’t look like the giant octopus was about to give up.

"U-ugh…!" a human player screamed.

"This is still moving!" another exclaimed.

"If you don't give it to me, I'll take it from your corpse." JiHan took out his Phoenix Flag, and the situation changed as red lightning shot from the spear.

BZZT—!

“What the…?!” the octopus yelled. The moment the lightning touched its body, the alien instantly burst into flames.

JiHan was definitely stronger with the spear than he was with the sword after he’d gotten the Red stat. He looked at the ground where the octopus species’ leader had been. 'It isn't here.'

Had the guild symbol been incinerated with their leader? JiHan frowned as he glanced over the other octopi. The one he’d defeated seemed to be the strongest, which was why he’d assumed it was their guild leader. Was the true leader hiding somewhere else?

“How strange,” one of the octopi said as it grew in size to become similar to the one JiHan had just defeated. “The others are clearly weak.” As if to prove its statement, the giant octopus slammed an oversized tentacle down on nearby human players.

"Absolute Shield!" One of the rankers quickly deployed defensive magic, but the shield ripped apart like paper.

Crack—!

"AAHH…!"

Even if JiHan was strong, he couldn't block every incoming attack, and several of his guild members were crushed by the octopus’s tentacles.

= Ah, JiHan's still strong…!

= Those tentacles cannot be underestimated. The rankers are going down!

Since the top 100 rankers participated, JiHan's special mission was being broadcast on Channel 0. As always, JiHan was massacring his enemies, but the other humans were struggling with the tentacles.

- He reached the Master League, but JiHan still dominates, lol.

- The rankers…

- There’s too much of a power difference. There's nothing that can be done. I wonder when they’ll catch up…

- I don't think they will ever catch up, lol.

The viewers weren't surprised by the power contrast anymore.

'I'll have to erase them all.' Watching his guild members be murdered once was enough for him, and JiHan decided to finish off every single one of the remaining octopi in one go.

BZZT—!

A huge burst of red lightning rose from his spear, and it contained an unusually intense fire within it.

Combined Origin Divine Arts Heavenly Lightning Phoenix Flames Technique: Dragon Lightning.

It was a new technique he’d made—Dragon Lightning.

= J-JiHan's spear turned into a seemingly endless spear of fire…!

= Did he reach some kind of enlightenment when he didn't appear in the Space League? We’ve seen him use more fire-related abilities ever since the promotion match!

= How much stronger will JiHan get?!

Swoosh—

JiHan slowly moved his spear, and bolts from the Dragon Lightning Technique followed the movement and fell upon the octopi.

“Is this the power of the dragonkin?” an octopus wondered.

“No. It's similar but different.”

“It's hard to believe, but this is even more powerful than what the dragonkin can do…”

“Is he seriously part of this weak species?”

Although their bodies burned, it seemed they couldn't feel the pain. The giant octopi kept rolling their eyes around and never stopped talking while JiHan's lightning was still descending and murdering them all.

“A strong opponent has appeared. We need to get information on him.”

“Suppress his players. Don't kill them; gather data.”

Instead of fearing death, they were trying to suppress the human players.

"A-aahh…!" a human player screamed.

A giant octopus that hadn’t been reached by JiHan’s technique yet sucked one of the 100 human rankers into its tentacles. JiHan’s lightning incinerated the octopus a moment later, but the octopus seemed satisfied, even as it died. “Done,” it mumbled.

After the group of octopi players were all dead, a large, golden cube rose from the ground.

Flash—!

'So this is their guild symbol? It has a different color from mine.' Unlike humanity's guild symbol, the octopus's symbol was bigger and shone with an intense gold color.

JiHan brought his guild symbol closer to it, causing the giant, golden cube to shrink and enter humanity’s symbol.

Swoosh—!

['Guild Symbol +2' has been upgraded to 'Guild Symbol +5'.]

The symbol went up three ranks in an instant and shone with a similar golden color that the aliens’ had.

[Since the guild symbol is now at least rank 5, you can choose an additional option.]

[1. Resurrection penalty reduced by 90%]

[2. Guild options enhanced by 50%]

[3. Summon an allied guild]

In the end, JiHan saw over 99 different options appear. 'Why are there so many?' Rather than beating the enemies, choosing the best option seemed harder. While he was hesitating, a completely different chat window appeared on his Battle Tube. Unlike the other windows, it had a star-covered background.

['Lue Investment's Octane' has donated 1,000,000GP and sent a message.]

[He's an extraterrestrial being. Will you accept the donation?]

'An extraterrestrial being?' Did they even have such an option?

[Your name doesn't appear… Are you a premium member? Okay, blue chip, I'm going to invest in you.]

The extraterrestrial being seemed pleased with JiHan's name not being shown and called him 'blue chip'.

- An extraterrestrial being?

- Octane, Head of Lue Investment? It sounds like a scammer, lol.

- To think such a donation would come after the octopi died… Is he one of them?

- But what's a ‘blue chip’?

- Don't people usually refer to a high-quality stock as a blue chip?

The viewers were shocked by the extraterrestrial being's sudden sponsorship and speculated about his identity.

"Are you an octopus I killed earlier?" JiHan calmly asked.

[Yes, blue chip. Unlike someone who comes from a low-ranking species, you have overwhelming strength. Beings like you always bring significant profits… Lue Investment will invest in you.]

"Invest in me?"

[Yes. I'll take a small share of your soul and provide you with infinite GP.]

A share of his soul? JiHan frowned. "There's no need."

[I knew you'd say that. Then just stay as you are. I will provide you with information to navigate this world…]

"Stay as I am?"

[Yes. Keep yourself hidden with a premium membership so that I am the only one who can bet on you…]

Had the alien mentioned the share of his soul just in case he was willing to accept it? It seemed like he was really after something else.

JiHan smirked. "Can I remain hidden with a premium membership? You were able to donate, after all."

[No. A premium membership can filter out more than 90%… There's a huge difference between having ten mouths and one.]

"Let's hear the information first, and then I'll decide." Every message from the extraterrestrial was accompanied by 1 million GP, so it was at least worth hearing what he had to say.

[The symbol option… Human, choose the ability sharing option.]

"Ability sharing?"

[Yes. Your species is too weak. To score high in the guild missions, you need to manage your members' scores properly. For example, their kill and death counts. If your guild members are at a trash level, then even if you defeat many enemies, you won't be able to escape a mid-tier ranking.]

"Will the situation change if I choose to share abilities?"

[Ability sharing… takes a portion of power from the guild's strongest and distributes it to the other members, thus increasing their stats. If the difference between the guild's number one and the average member isn't significant, it isn't worth choosing it… However, in your case, this will be most effective.]

If what Octane said was true, then 'Ability Sharing' was the best option, given the circumstances of the Bloom Guild. Of course, the buff wouldn't apply to JiHan. Fortunately, he didn't need any more buffs.

'It's true that, if the guild's options are enhanced, then I could gain more experience… Still, scoring high in the missions is probably going to be better.' After going through all 99 options, JiHan chose to share his ability.

[You've selected ‘Ability Share’.]

[Measuring the power difference between the top guild member and the average guild member…]

[1% of player ‘Sung JiHan's’ abilities will be applied to all guild members as a buff.]

Flash—!

An intense light came out of the guild symbol, applying the buff to all of the other human players.

"I’m receiving some of the top player’s power…?" someone mumbled.

"Wh-what? My magic power suddenly…!"

"This is just 1%? Just how strong is Mr. Sung…?"

Naturally, everyone was excited by the increase in power: the Warriors jumped only slightly and soared into the sky, the Supports were able to create triple the amount of Absolute Barriers, and each player's basic physical and magic specs, among other things, were greatly amplified.

[1%…? A ridiculously low amount was distributed. If this is the difference, then it would be like comparing a Grand Master player to a Bronze player…]

Octane was dumbfounded upon hearing that just 1% of the power had been distributed.

- Isn't the average Bloom Guild member in the top 100…?

- They're humanity's strongest. To think that the difference would be comparable to a Grand Master and a Bronze… The octopus is too mean.

- At least he’s comparing them to a Bronze, lol.

- It seems that he's going to keep the top ranking forever.

- Just how strong is JiHan?

Although people knew the difference between JiHan and the other rankers was big, seeing it represented in numbers was a whole other thing.

Octane had another suggestion for JiHan.

[Forget about defending the wall for now. It's better to snatch up guild symbols first. You need to increase the power distribution to at least 3%.]

"Are you telling me the defenders should fight each other?"

[The map is meant for that. Have you ever seen species cooperating on Battle Net? Before dying at the hands of the boss, you should upgrade the guild symbol as much as possible. That will improve your rank. That's why you should stay and wait.]

"Just like you guys did?"

[Yes. This is a decent respawn spot to hunt newcomer guilds.]

Octane was telling them to stay hidden, just like they'd done.

"Why bother? We can just hunt the players around us now," JiHan said.

[Those who've taken defensive positions already are mostly strong, so that's inefficient. It's better to stay hidden and ambush latecomers.]

"That might be true for you guys." JiHan looked around. "There they are. I'll be back soon." He spotted a guild from another species stationed nearby and quickly dashed in that direction. Soon, a huge pillar of fire soared up from the south.

"When did he get over there…?" someone asked.

"Well, if this is 1% of his power, imagine 100%…"

"Ah… W-wait… Th-the power is increasing!"

The rankers were sitting around when they experienced their buff getting stronger—JiHan had quickly suppressed the enemy guild and further enhanced the guild symbol.

"Hmm,” JiHan hummed. “There's another guild over there. I'll be back soon." Flames began bursting from all directions, and after the process repeated a few times…

['Guild Symbol +9' has been upgraded to 'Guild Symbol +10'.]

[The 'Guild Symbol' has been upgraded to the 'Celestial Cube.']

['Lue Investment's Octane' has donated 100,000,000,000 GP.]

[A Celestial Cube… So it could be obtained like this? To think I'd receive information as well… Here's your reward for the information.]

Octane was simply unable to hide his surprise and donated a huge amount of GP.
