Chapter 331

“Exchange student?”

“Yes, or, to be exact, it would be easier to think of it as a short-term study abroad program.”

Leo had heard about exchange students since his freshman year.

One of Seiren’s teachers, Herdium, would send letters to Leo with continuous interest in him coming to Seiren as one.

Of course, as Seiren’s operations became strange recently, his letters to him decreased in frequency.

However, he never expected Tina, who had no formal relation to Seiren, to bring up the exchange student talk again.

Even from what Leo had seen, Tina was a bit different from the average elf.

‘Well, maybe that’s why she felt that she could bring up the exchange student conversation.’

Tina could certainly be called eccentric from an elf’s perspective.

That’s why she was also an elf with a more flexible way of thinking.

He could learn that much just by watching Tina’s class for a short time.

She conducted classes that could easily be called heresy without hesitation by other elves.

So Tina’s invitation to him to become an exchange student was even more questionable.

“Is there a reason you think I should go to Seiren as an exchange student? I don’t think I would be very welcomed in Seiren.”

Tina nodded at Leo’s words.

“Of course. Not just at Seiren, but those of the elven sorcery world in general don’t look at you with such favor.”

Leo’s unique sorcery ‘Bible’ was the biggest contribution to writing the ‘Introduction to Sorcery of the Stars’ that Len published earlier this year.

In addition, he had interpreted the sorcery of blossoming flowers that had been long untranslatable, and he had obtained Polyum as a reward for conquering Luna, the Poet of the Stars,’ Hero’s World.

Although he had no connection to Seiren, Leo had fulfilled multiple of the elven race’s long-cherished desires.

In such a situation, there were many people in Seiren who felt hostile toward Leo, judging him as someone challenging Seiren's status.

Tina continued.

"The reason I want you to go to Seiren as an exchange student is not simply to have you go to Seiren and study. Honestly, I don't think you'll learn anything from Seiren that you wouldn’t have at Lumene."

Tina shrugged.

"Why are you suggesting this, then?"

"Seiren's ultimate goal is to give birth to a successor to Luna, the Poet of the Stars. Just like the rest of our ancestors."

Step, step, step.

Tina walked to the mobile blackboard on one side of her office.

When she removed the cloth covering the blackboard, a complex sorcery spell was revealed beneath.

It was none other than the sorcery of blossoming flowers.

"The spell you completed is beautiful."

Tina looked at the sorcery of blossoming flowers with a gaze somehow both hazy and concentrated.

Tina, admiring the spell, remarked, “There are many idiots with hardened minds in the elven sorcery world.”

A look of discomfort appeared on Tina’s face.

“That’s why there are fools who deny the spell you interpreted.”

The sorcery of blossoming flowers that Leo had interpreted was the basis of Luna’s Sorcery of the Stars.

Since she created this spell to produce the Sorcery of the Stars, it was no exaggeration to say that all Sorcery of the Stars was derived from the sorcery of blossoming flowers itself.

'It’s not unreasonable to think that way. The claim is so absurd that even I find it ridiculous.”

The difficulty of interpreting the sorcery of blossoming flowers was the hardest of all spells, even compared to those of the Sorcery of the Stars.

The effect was simply to make ‘flowers’ blossom.

However, the effect produced by this spell was within the domain of the work of only the ‘gods.’

Blooming flowers from nothing… It was a spell that literally created something from nothing.

In some ways, the effect could be considered unsightly, but the spell’s formula was incredibly complex.

From the perspective of a sorcerer who valued efficiency, it was an inefficient spell that seemed like nothing but a waste of resources.

‘Well, that’s why it’s the most Luna-like spell of all.’

Luna was the most genius sorcerer since the very beginning of sorcery itself, but she was also equally eccentric and peculiar.

From the perspective of later generations, she was a being that was difficult to completely understand.

“Professor Tina, you seem to be certain that this spell was created by Luna.”

“Yes. It’s strange to think that a spell formula interpreted so perfectly could be wrong… I admire Luna even more after seeing this spell.”

Tina smiled brightly.

“Well, it’s quite romantic, isn’t it? And the fact that Luna tried to create a spell that makes flowers blossom was proven while conquering her Hero’s World. Even if you insist that there is another interpretation, it only serves to insult Luna, yet you stubborn fools deny it to the end,” Tina, who had been grumbling, said. “You interpreted this spell, right? It’s no exaggeration to say that you’ve already mastered the Sorcery of the Stars, so what more could you learn from Seiren?”

“It was only a matter of luck.”

“There is no luck in sorcery. Especially not with such high-level sorcery.”

Tina smiled brightly.

“You achieved something that even Seiren Tingel couldn’t do.”

Tina went to one side of her office, poured some strong coffee into a mug, and sipped it.

Tina, savoring the taste of the coffee, said, “This year’s ‘Sorcery Consortium’ is being held at Seiren. It’s also the place where Professor Len’s assistant, Miss Associate Professor Anna, will present Professor Len’s ‘Introduction to Sorcery of the Stars.’”

Tina's words made Leo think of Anna.

She had been preparing for the conference diligently lately, boasting a much more worn-out appearance as well.

All of this was due to the pressure of having to present her thesis, ‘Introduction to Sorcery of the Stars,’ which many elven sorcerers unanimously called 'heresy' at the previous sorcery conference held at Seiren, the center of elven sorcery.

According to the testimony of Chloe and Chelsea, who often visited Anna's office to help her, she cursed Professor Len’s name dozens of times a day.

"You, as a co-author, have a deep understanding of the thesis, don't you? I want you to help me and come to the conference."

"What should I do there?"

"What should you do? I want you to smash in all the skulls of those thick-headed fools."

Kiran, who was listening to Tina's words, widened his eyes.

[Is it okay to just hit them all with a thick sorcery book?]

“It sounds appealing, but I don’t think it would be particularly effective.”

Tina continued with a very regretful expression.

“Leo, you must understand the Sorcery of the Stars. Probably even more deeply than I do.”

Tina looked straight into Leo’s eyes.

“I think that the elven sorcery community needs a change. The world is undergoing a transformation. Leo, whether you like it or not, you are at the center of it.”

Tina sighed.

“If things continue like this, Seiren… no, the elven race might be facing elimination. I think a strong shock is needed to prevent the elves from being beaten out.”

“But can I go as an exchange student?”

Tina smiled brightly as she looked at Leo, who asked with a puzzled look.

“Don’t worry about that. I’ll take care of it.”

“I’ll think about it.”

“Yeah. Oh, and if you go to Seiren, there’s one more thing I’d like to ask of you. You don’t have to listen to this if you don’t want to.”

“What is it?”

“Would you mind teaching some sorcery to my nephew who started at Seiren this year?”

“I’ll consider it once I decide.”

“Thank you.”

After finishing his conversation with Tina, Leo headed to the party venue.

[Leo, are you going? Huh? Are you going? You have to go.]

Kiran whined while hanging on to him.

“I’m going to go, so stop whining.”

[Hurray!]

Kiran flew around like crazy, shouting:

[“Hurray! Hurray!”]

“You look like a butterfly.”

Leo shook his head as he watched him, sent Kiran away, and entered the venue of their dormitories’ party.

“Huh? It’s Leo.”

Someone found Leo and muttered, and the party venue fell into silence for a moment.

Meanwhile, Leo found Reina at the party venue and looked surprised.

As Leo walked in further, the silence that fell upon the party hall lifted.

However, the continued glances at Leo could not be hidden.

In particular, the gazes of the parents looking at Leo were unusual.

“Mom, you didn’t contact me. What are you doing here?”

“I didn’t go anywhere I need your permission for.”

Reina smiled brightly.

“I’ve been watching your performance.”

“How was it?”

“You surely are my son. But you’re so scary.”

Leo burst into laughter as he watched Reina shaking her head.

“Leo! Leo’s mother.”

Carr approached him with a happy smile.

“Carr, who is that person there?”

“This is my older sister, Keira Thomas. She runs a bed-and-breakfast in the Kingdom of Moira.”

The woman who looked like Carr widened her eyes as she looked at Leo.

“Carr, you were really close with Leo Plov? I thought you were just being delusional.”

“What do you think of me, you old hag…”

“Old hag? Old hag!? You little--!”

“Choke-choke”

Keira, who raised her eyes, grabbed Carr’s cheeks without mercy.

After that, she smiled brightly and greeted Leo.

“It’s nice to meet you. I’m Keira Thomas, Carr’s older sister. Thank you for being friends with my pitiful younger brother.”

“My name is Leo Plov. Carr has always helped me.”

“Wow, you’re really mature. Hey, Carr. Try to be half as much as your friend.”

“My kid acts like an elderly man, so I wish Leo was a little more like Carr.”

Reina, who was listening to this all unfold, burst into laughter.

That was when…

“Leo, Carr.”

This time, Nella approached.

A middle-aged man stood next to her.

“Father, let me introduce you. These here are Leo Plov and Carr Thomas. They are my classmates and have been my best friends since the first year.”

“My name is Leo Plov.”

“My name is Carr Thomas.”

“My name is Neron Carven. My daughter always owes you a favor. It’s nice to meet you.”

With that polite greeting, Neron’s gaze turned to Reina.

"It’s been a while, Reina."

"It’s been a while, Senior Neron."

Nella’s eyes widened.

"Father, do you know Leo's mother?"

"She was my junior."

"Ah..."

Nella exclaimed.

"Your daughter is as handsome as you, Senior Neron."

"Thank you. What were school days with my father like? He never talks about them at all."

"Should I tell the honest truth?"

"Ahem!"

Neron coughed vainly when Reina asked playfully.

Then he said to Reina.

"Reina, I have something to tell you. Should we talk about it separately?"

"Yes. Leo, I’m going to go talk with my senior for a bit."

Reina left to talk to Neron.

“Hey guys!”

“So you were all here?”

Eliana and Tide came over with bright smiles.

“Dad, this is Leo Plov, Carr Thomas, and Nella Carven. They've been my best friends since the first year! Guys, this is my father, Illaven Laden.”

“Hello.”

“My daughter always owes you all.”

“Guys, this is our father, Tedam Markoa. Dad, they’re my friends.”

“Nice to meet you.”

Eliana’s father and Tide’s father had already finished greeting each other.

The closest circles from the first year classes gathered together.

“Where’s Chelsea?”

“Chelsea is busy greeting the Lordren people.”

Nella smiled brightly.

Before long, the parents were talking among themselves.

“What are they talking about?”

When Tide made a puzzled expression, Eliana smiled meaningfully.

“Adults must be having adult conversations. Oh! By the way, class president, do you know that the kids in the other dorms are calling you the Demon King right now?”

“What kind of nickname is that?”

“They’re calling you that because of how scary you were during the test.”

“Honestly, I was scared too.”

“You should have been more moderate.”

When Tide shook his head and said, Nella smiled her characteristically languid smile.

She shook her head with her sword.

“Demon King, Leo. Something about it feels right, doesn’t it?”

Eliana stroked her chin.

Keira, who had been watching them all babble like that, poked her younger brother’s side and said, “Wow. The Zerdinger, Carven, Laden, and the Markoa family… You’ve really made it big, huh?”

“Huh! Doesn’t your younger brother look pretty cool now?”

“No, you’re not worth much yet, but your connections look great.”

“Argh!”

As Carr got angry at his older sister’s reaction, a number of people gathered around Leo.

“Leo, I saw your wonderful performance in this exam. I’m from the Kingdom of Derond…”

“My son stays in the same dorm as you, actually. Won’t you visit the Western sorcerers’ tower sometime?”

“I…”

Carr stuck out his tongue as he looked at the crowd gathered around him.

“I guess this would be a natural reaction to his appearance?”

“I feel like our class president has become quite the big shot.”

When Carr and Eliana exclaimed in admiration—

- May I have your attention

Professor Sedgen, who had come up to the stage at the party, opened his mouth.

At that, everyone’s attention turned to Sedgen.

- I would like to express my gratitude to the distinguished guests who graced the occasion. I would also like to take this opportunity to formally kick off our event to congratulate the second-year students for finishing their difficult exams.

After hearing Sedgen’s words, Carr muttered, “Doesn’t this feel a bit cold?”

“Huh? What are you talking about?”

Eliana looked puzzled.

- Tonight, we will be distributing midterm exam report cards to the parents. Parents, please gather in front of the stage by dormitory.

The faces of most of the students began to turn pale at those words.

- In addition, under the newly established mentor system, we would like to remind you all that there will be no recommendations to drop out given until the end of the first semester of the second year. Thus, we will be distributing the midterm scores along with your first-year report cards to let your parents know just how much you’ve neglected your studies.

“What the hell!”

“This damn school!” Eliana screamed, clutching her head, and Tide’s face turned pale.

The parents around Leo glared and rushed to the stage.

Carr muttered as he watched them, "Our school seems to be getting more and more vicious as the days go by."
