Volume 10 Chapter 407 - Why the Hairan Clan (1)

Sword aura was pushing the thunder back.

It was Ron’s sword aura. Every time he swung Rashid, a tsunami-like sword aura would rise into the sky.

Even the thunder that seemed to engulf the entire Sword King Castle looked like child’s play compared to Ron’s sword aura.

‘How many people in the world can protect a castle like this by spreading their sword aura like an umbrella?’

That was the question that appeared in Jin’s mind as soon as he saw it. A realm available only to 10-star knights, and only to the strongest among them.

What was even more surprising was that Ron didn’t get tired at all even though he kept releasing that much sword aura nonstop.

“Sir Ron!”

Ron turned his head as Jin shouted. He checked on Beradin, who was unconscious and tied up on Shuri, then nodded toward Jin.

‘Good job!’

That was the expression he had. Although Beradin wasn’t unharmed, the fact that Jin had saved him made him less susceptible to the enemy’s tactics.

And Lata, who was still fighting against monsters and living golems at the front line, felt a strange emotion upon seeing Jin return.

A kind of respect, so to speak.

It was a feeling he hadn’t felt in a long time.

Jin fought against him, took the duel easy, and when the unexpected terrorist attack began, he immediately assessed the situation, single-handedly pinpointed what the enemy was after, and brought Beradin back.

No matter what his relationship with Jin was like until now, there was no reason not to respect him. Since even Ron didn’t realize that Beradin was what the enemy was after.

‘He’s impressive. To think the day would come where I, Lata, would feel enamored by a man.’

Shurry jumped over the giant monsters and landed next to Ron.

“I don’t know why I forgot about him. Is the injury serious?”

“There’s no danger to his life whatsoever.”

“Got it. After everything is over, I’ll provide appropriate compensation. Those chunks of ice… I think I’ve got the rough idea.”

Ron had simply been slashing the mages to dust every time they regenerated.

He hadn’t used a ‘sealing’ method at all. That was because he didn’t have a mage’s mindset, and the mages who were waiting in the castle were in too much of a panic.

Also, since Ron was able to spread such a huge amount of sword aura without getting tired at all, there wasn’t a need to look for other means.

“Listen, all mages inside the castle! Seal the golems that use lightning energy!”

As Ron gave the order, the knights behind him opened a path in unison. Mages could be seen coming forward and casting ice magic.

‘But it's strange. Why isn’t the thunder dying down?’

As the mages appeared, chunks of ice with the Light Golems sealed in them were everywhere, but the thunder pouring down from the sky showed no sign of stopping.

‘Are there more Light Golems? Sir Ron’s sword aura is so great that it’s being pushed back, but that thunder isn’t something that can be created with just three or four Light Golems. I was in such a hurry to get back that I didn’t think about it.’

There had to be at least five hundred of them.

Or perhaps it wasn’t the golems, but something different. It was a thunder that couldn’t be explained otherwise.

At first glance, it seemed like all six Light Golems that had attacked Sword King Castle had been sealed.

But because the lightning energy was only getting stronger, he was sure. There was something else at play.

Both Ron and Jin were thinking the same thing.

“This feels completely different to those bastards trapped in the ice…”

Ron’s eyes narrowed as he looked up at the sky.

The sky was a mixture of shadow energy, sword aura, and thunder, shining in a chaotic array of colors.

“I should go see what it is.”

Ron stopped casting his sword aura out after he finished his sentence. The thunder poured down as if a dam had burst, but it seemed incomparably weaker than before.

And then, out of nowhere…

The skies were ‘opening’.

What was revealed appeared to be the lower part of a ship.

‘What’s that…?!’

As far as everyone, including Jin, knew, there was only one floating ship like that in the world.

The Kozak, Zipfel’s aerial combat weapon.

But it wasn’t the Kozak that appeared, pushing away the black clouds. Although similar in form, they were completely different flying ships.

“…Since they’re here on a flying ship, I’m starting to think they might actually be Octavia’s subordinates.”

Ron shrugged and let out a laugh.

“They’re probably Kinzelo and not Zipfel, Sir Ron.”

“You’re right. But do you really think they’re unrelated?”

Jin shook his head.

“With how things have gone so far, I can’t say that I think Zipfel has no relation to this terrorist attack. Even if they didn’t directly instigate it, they’re bound to have tacitly overlooked things about this incident because it would benefit them.”

“Those good-for-nothing bastards.”

Bzzz, bzz…!

Thunder-laden dark clouds were gathering near the ship. The ship appeared to have a structure that was much more complicated than the Kozak, with bumps all over the hull that seemed to gather mana and form dark clouds.

As soon as the ship appeared, the battlefield became quiet.

The monsters that had been running wild had stopped moving, and the warriors were catching their breaths and staring blankly at the ship.

Most of them were instinctively intimidated. It was only natural since giant monsters, living golems, and flying ships had appeared, as well as the appearance of the Light Golems.

Jin turned his head and met eyes with Murakan and Quikantel. It seemed like it was their first time seeing this ship.

Ron was the only one who didn’t waver an inch.

“State your name, intruder.”

It was a voice filled with grand energy. Even though he spoke in a relaxed tone, Ron’s voice resonated powerfully and reached the ship.

Soon, familiar faces appeared at the bow of the ship.

“If you’re talking about him, then the name’s Berakt Sidriker! The Great Warrior of the White Wolf Tribe, the chief of the Sidriker Tribe, the lord of the Loskal Great Plains, and the ruler of the Antomeck Mountains…”

The man who gave Berakt’s introduction for him was Cold Joe.

“Shut up. Keep it short, Joe.”

“Then let’s skip ahead a bit… He’s the commander of Kinzelo!”

This time, even Jin found it hard to predict what they were planning.

Not only did they commit terrorism, he hadn’t expected that they would openly reveal their identity.

But the climax was what Joe said the next moment.

“The reason we sailed the ship Grinil and came to Sword King Castle was to rescue Kinzelo’s vice-leader and his younger sister.”

Those insane bastards…

Those words reflexively came to mind.

‘They’re the ones who performed this terrorist attack and now they’re saying they’re here to rescue Vishukel and Margiela?’

There was only one reason why Jin was struggling to read what their intentions were.

Because they were just too shameless and straightforward. To the point where he began to wonder if they were actually thinking before taking action.

‘Did they think that if they commit a terrorist attack and injure Vishukel and Margiela, that would be enough justification to claim they had nothing to do with it?’

Obviously, it made no sense.

But it was something that could happen. It was a well-known fact to all warriors that Vishukel cherished his younger sister more than anyone else in the world.

No one would think that Vishukel would put his sister at risk and take part in such a terrorist attack.

And most importantly, there was no evidence.

Even though the ship Grinil was using mana to control the lightning energy, other than one’s gut feeling, there wasn’t a single piece of concrete evidence that would prove that the Light Golems, the living golems, and the monsters were Kinzelo’s doing.

‘And they’re attitude shows that they think Sir Ron won’t accuse them as the criminals based on his gut feeling alone. They’re completely looking down on the Hairan Clan.’

Was this their plan from the beginning?

At the sudden question, Jin quickly concluded that couldn’t be true.

‘They probably wanted to take things easy and then back off. But because I rescued Beradin, they ran into a problem.’

Now that Beradin returned safely, it was hard to instigate a hostile relationship between Hairan and Zipfel.

Since Jin rescued Beradin on Ron’s special command, there was no reason for them to be hostile.

There was only one reason why they showed up even though their plan had failed.

‘Kinzelo is determined to inflict serious damage on Hairan by any means necessary. Since they lost their method of turning Zipfel and Hairan against each other, it feels like they’re looking to trample on Hairan themselves.’

If that wasn’t the case, Berakt and Joe wouldn’t have appeared like so and gotten on Ron’s nerves.

Berakt and Joe were effectively picking a fight.

“Huhuhu.”

Ron let out another empty laugh.

“Even the Emperor doesn’t use a spokesperson when speaking to me. And… I never thought I would ever have to look up at someone while in Sword King Castle. Get down here, beastman.”

Berakt then burst into laughter.

“And if I refuse, human Sword King?”

“I’ll make you.”

Ron didn’t ask Berakt or Joe to explain themselves any further. Why they attacked Sword King Castle, or what they were scheming.

That was something that would be asked once there was room for conversation. Ron also made up his mind. To go to war with Kinzelo.

‘He’s marching to the beat of their drum. There’s no way Sir Ron doesn’t know that.’

But even still, Ron couldn’t back down in this situation. The moment he backed down even though Kinzelo was acting like this, Ron’s Hairan would never regain the prestige it once had.

Since the ship Grinil appeared, everyone present had the same suspicions about Kinzelo.

Rashid’s blade was gleaming.

“I’ll give you just one warning. Get down here and pay your respects.”

“I’ve already told you what I’m here to do. Hand over Kinzelo’s vice-leader and his sister.”

“It looks like you don’t value their lives.”

The sword raised to the sky released a burst of sword aura.

The area was instantly bathed in a dazzling light.

The ship Grinil appeared to be completely drowning in sword aura, as if it had fallen into a sea.

Everyone held their breath and waited for the light to disappear. Even if the ship Grinil was a weapon on the same level as the Kozak, it seemed that it wouldn’t survive being hit by such an attack.

It was a sincere attack.

The sword of a 10-star knight, and Ron Hairan’s at that.

But, surprisingly, it didn’t make even a single scratch on Grinil.

Ron Hairan’s eyes shook slightly.

Grinil was still floating in the sky, just as it had before.

“If you really want to fight me, why don’t we go somewhere else? Just the two of us, human Sword King, Ron Hairan. If you and I fight here, not a single member of your clan will survive.”
