Volume 10 Chapter 352 - The Final Stage of Bradamante’s Strengthening (1)

Gilly couldn’t understand it herself.

‘It’s true that they were disgusting, but it wasn’t to the point where I would lose control over my emotions…’

It was definitely something that she could’ve just overlooked. Strangely enough, though, she was so angry she almost attacked the Yviliano siblings without realizing it.

“I bet even if you had attacked them it wouldn’t have been that big of a problem though.”

When Gilly explained what happened in the hallway, Jin shrugged his shoulders as if it was nothing.

“I’m deeply ashamed. I almost embarrassed you, Young Master.”

“Nah, it might’ve been a little tiring, but it wouldn’t have been fatal.”

Jin wasn’t trying to comfort Gilly; he really thought that was the case.

Firstly, because of Vishukel.

‘There’s no way he wouldn’t have reacted to Gilly’s attack.’

Even if Myu hadn’t seen it and had just walked by, and Gilly had actually attacked, Vishukel would’ve easily blocked it.

Gilly’s strength was currently at the 7-star level.

Of course, she was particularly outstanding among the 7-star warriors and still had tremendous potential, but Vishukel was someone who was several steps ahead of that.

Secondly, this was the Garden of Swords.

Even assuming that Vishukel failed to block Gilly’s blow, if the excuse of ‘insulting a Runcandel flag-bearer’ was used, then it was an incident that would’ve ended without issue.

This was especially true since they were uninvited guests who came without so much as a notice in the first place.

‘But the part where Gilly said that she suddenly became so angry that she couldn’t control it is a bit strange. Did she react sensitively because it’s an issue related to me? Or maybe she’s been feeling stressed these days without realizing it.’

If that had been the case, then Gilly would’ve actually been more careful. Whenever someone did something harmful to Jin, though she became furious, she was always cool-headed about her actions.

‘Or is it because of the chaos energy that Margiela is believed to have…?’

In any case…

Jin thought that it wasn’t something Gilly should feel disheartened over. It was true that Margiela had some strange power.

“If I were in your place, I would’ve done the same thing. Don’t worry about it.”

“Yeah, Strawberry Pie. Humans have always been talking nonsense like that since ancient times. All they need to do is just be truthful and say they want to achieve their desires, but they always say this nonsense about making a better world or whatever. Calling it some great cause and whatnot.”

“I find it fascinating sometimes how in every era there’s a cult that gains power by saying those things, Murakan.”

“It’s because humans are a good-for-nothing species. That’s why back in the old days, some crazy dragons would always argue about killing off all the humans except the useful ones. I think they said they would kill about eighty percent of the population.”

“That’s insane in its own right.”

“So I killed all of them. Well, not for the sake of the humans, but because I found their actions laughable and annoying.”

“That’s like you, I suppose. More importantly, Gily… Mary said to set a date for the duel?”

“Yes, Young Master.”

“We did promise to duel every three months, but it’s still giving me a headache. Fighting Mary is quite hard on my body.”

Jin recalled how Mary looked as she cast the Decisive Killing Move, Volcano, when saving the little beastmen.

‘If by any chance she gets too into it and uses that… I feel dizzy thinking about it.’

A cold sweat ran down his spine.

“How about competing in something that’s not a duel?”

“Yeah, I think that’s a good idea. Murakan, did you hear anything in particular in the reception room?”

“I saw that Berakt guy slightly deceiving your mother. He only told her that Zipfel was looking for Temar’s tomb. After that it was only small talk.”

Berakt didn’t tell Rosa about the Vermont royal family.

“And your mother didn’t seem to have much doubt about that information. It seemed like she had a pretty big fight against him in the past. I suppose she felt a sense of kinship with a worthy opponent?”

“Since the clan will start properly investigating the tombs, Mother would find out about Vermont at some point regardless. But, for the time being, I’ll have the upper hand in information.”

Rosa still hadn’t called Jin even after Kinzelo had left. Even after knowing that the ‘tomb’ that Berakt had mentioned was Temar’s.

There could only be one reason for that.

‘Mother already knew about the tomb’s existence. Maybe even the fact that Zipfel was looking for it.’

It wasn’t that unexpected.

‘Mother must’ve been waiting for the right time to find Temar’s tomb, even if it meant breaking the oath with Zipfel. Or she thought there wasn’t a need to find it.’

Either way, things were likely to change now. Since Kinzelo had mentioned the existence of the tomb and that Jin was looking for it, it was only natural that Rosa would take action.

“Temar. That guy can’t find peace even in death. Why do those Vermont guys want to find his body? To think that the great powers are acting like mere grave robbers.”

Murakan spoke with a bitter expression. Why was Vermont looking for Temar’s body? This question remained on Jin’s mind.

“I think I need to go see Misha. I also have to tell her about Aria Owlheart.”

“Agh, we have to meet her again?”

“I know you think we should as well.”

Murakan pinched his forehead. The information they got from Kinzelo definitely had to be shared with Misha.

“Good job holding back, by the way. You were definitely right to get angry at my mother.”

“Huh? I didn’t hold back though?”

“What?”

“I had a word with her. Asked if she knew where the tomb was. I wonder if it was because she didn’t want to fight, but she just glossed over it. Not that I would’ve believed her even if she said she didn’t know.”

Although there were a few crude words mixed in, Rosa treated Murakan appropriately and sent him away.

“In the old days, it wouldn’t have ended with just words. I was gonna flip this whole clan upside down, yeah? But I endured it because of you.”

“Yeah, yeah. Well done. Gilly, has there been any contact from Tikan?”

Contact from Tikan. That meant news about the Cat Tribe and the ‘Rontelgeuse Clan’ of demons.

About two months had passed since their last meeting, but Valeria still hadn’t found the Cat Tribe. Quikantel also hadn’t found out anything about the Rontelgeuse Clan either.

Even with archival magic, finding the Cat Tribe wasn’t easy, and since Quikantel was still privately a wanted person of the empire, there were restrictions put on her ability to find information, so it would need time.

Jin only hoped that the Cat Tribe had survived without getting hurt.

“Yes, Young Master. It seems even the Seven-Colored Peacock is having a hard time moving about.”

“It’s inevitable since there are more eyes on them. It’s really frustrating. It’s not like I can do it myself, either.”

Creak.

The butler Petro sought out Jin’s room.

“Young Master, a letter has arrived from the lord of the Volta Clan.”

(Dearest Sir Jin Runcandel, recently, thanks to you, the Volta Clan…)

The letter, which began as such, was full of incredibly mundane, day-to-day events and flattery.

But that letter, which was full of trivial content, contained a very important meaning.

The strengthening of Bradamante.

Picon Minche had used Vin Branche to get the lord of the Volta Clan to send a letter to inform him.

“Just in case Mother calls for me, I’ll wait until tomorrow. If she doesn’t, I’ll leave immediately.”

* * *

Rosa didn’t call Jin even until the afternoon of the next day.

As usual, he was given a few routine missions, but Jin sent Bellop in disguise to take his place, and sought out the ‘Curtain’ of the Milla Kingdom.

“The master is away.”

But he wasn’t able to meet Misha.

It had already been a month since she had left, without even a word as to when she would return.

“This is quite common. I’ll send you a letter as soon as she gets back.”

Since she was doing everything Solderet had been doing in his place, it was only natural for Misha to be extremely busy every day.

“They say you can’t find even dog shit when you need it. This trip was in vain.”

Although that’s what he said, Murakan seemed pleased that he didn’t have to see Misha.

The two went straight to the Volta Clan’s land and headed to Vin Branche’s house.

“Sir Jin Runcandel! Please come in… Urgh.”

Unfortunately, before Vin could even finish his greeting, he convulsed, his eyes turning white as Picon incarnated into him.

[You’ve come?]

“How have you been, Picon?”

“Enough with the useless greetings, Picon. Since you asked me to come, I’m sure you’ve prepared something befitting. Has the strengthening of Bradamante been finished?”

[I never asked you to come though, now did I, Murakan?]

“Ah, is that how it is?”

Jin burst into laughter as he watched the two grappling one another for a moment.

[Gasp, gasp. You’ve always been so stupidly strong. Hey, enough! I surrender!]

Picon took a deep breath and went to the forge to retrieve the sword.

It was Bradamante.

At first glance, nothing seemed to have changed, but Jin could tell.

The fact that his sword had become stronger and sharper.

As Jin slowly stroked Bradamante and smiled with satisfaction, Picon spoke with pride.

[It’s marvelous, isn’t it?]

“I want to swing it right away.”

[But it’s not finished yet.]

“It can be improved even more than this?”

[There’s still one feature that hasn’t been added yet.]

-[…But the only drawback of Bradamante is that it does not protect the user.]

-Protect? It’s not like it’s armor.

-[I’ve forged countless armors in my life, but I’ve never seen anything better than armor formed from shadow energy. That’s why, when making Barisada, I installed a device so that armor would form when shadow energy was injected into it.]

He remembered the conversation he had when he first met Picon.

“You mean the feature of forming Shadow Energy armor?”

[That’s right. Thanks to you providing the Ancient Ten-Thousand-Year Iron and the materials from the tombs, it’s now nearing completion. However, I need one final piece.]

“What is it?”

“The core of a demon.”

As he said that, Murakan shouted.

“What? The core of a demon? Why would you possibly need something like that in order to make a sword?”

“I need it. The feature can only be activated with a thousand-year-old demon’s core. Multiple dragon hearts would also work, but we can’t do that, now can we?”

“Where can I find that?”

Jin asked, just as Murakan was about to argue further.
