Volume 10 Chapter 351 - Kinzelo’s Visit (3)
The Vermont royal family.
The rulers of the empire. The people commonly referred to them as being a mysterious house of noble blood. It never occurred to Jin that they might be looking for Temar’s tomb.
‘Why?’
He was more concerned about things more basic than his trail being exposed.
‘What do they plan to accomplish by finding Temar’s tomb?’
Only a contractor of the shadows could make use of the legacy left behind by Solderet.
The only reason a third party would have to look for the tomb would be to prevent the contractor from obtaining it.
Unless there was something else in Temar’s tomb that Jin was unaware of.
“You don’t seem surprised? You definitely should be.”
“I am surprised.”
“Wow, I’ve never seen anyone control their expressions as well as my brother in times like these.”
Looking back at how Vishukel treated Bouvard, it didn’t seem like he was able to hide his expression very well, but that wasn’t important.
“Assuming Zipfel is definitely looking for the tombs, let’s say that the Vermont royal family are also looking for Temar’s tomb. How did you find this information?”
“I wonder. There’s not much in the world our leader doesn’t know about. Is that enough of an explanation?”
Jin raised the corners of his mouth as Margiela answered with an innocent face.
“I suppose. Kinzelo also has no obligation to report everything to me in full. I was only asking for the sake of it.”
“You’re brushing past it quite refreshingly.”
“Even if your source of information is unclear, the intention is. And it doesn’t seem to be fake, either.”
It wasn’t that Jin wasn’t curious about the source. He just figured they wouldn’t tell him even if he was.
“Do you know why?”
“You mean why the royal family of Vermont is looking for the tomb of the first patriarch of Runcandel?”
“Yes.”
“Hoho, I can’t seem to remember. Though, I feel like if you were to join us in the revolution, it would suddenly come to me.”
“There’s no need to remember, then.”
“Are you sure you won’t regret it? Because this is the most impressive piece of information out of everything given so far.”
This was no ordinary bet.
Her identity was unknown, but she was believed to be imbued with chaos energy. She was bold, sly, and even laid-back as well. Margiela was a very tiring person to deal with.
Luckily, Jin knew how to deal with that type of person.
“Please go back now. I won’t charge you for the tea.”
“For the tea?”
“This is the highest quality tea from Mount Mila. It’s something even I drink sparingly. Well, that’s not important. Gilly. Please see Sir Vishukel and Lady Margiela off.”
“Understood, Young Master.”
“You’re joking, right?”
“I’m serious.”
“W-Wait!”
Jin turned around without even listening.
“Let me…! Let me give you a little hint. Please sit back down…”
But Jin had already gone into another room and closed the door.
Margiela stared blankly at the closed door for a while, then shook her head.
“In high society, this is known as playing hard to get, but was I too hard to get? Brother. What do you think?”
“…That doesn’t seem to be the appropriate expression.”
“Uhm, Lady Gilly McRolan? If I apologize for my rudeness, will Sir Jin come out again?”
Gilly shook her head.
“He won’t. Follow me.”
As Gilly left first, Vishukel had no choice but to follow her, pushing the wheelchair.
Margiela looked terribly disappointed, and Vishukel had a cold expression on his face. He seemed to be angry at Jin for having embarrassed his younger sister.
“Lady Gilly McRolan.”
“Please speak, Lady Margiela.”
“The royal family are looking for the body of Temar Runcandel. Please tell that to Sir Jin.”
Gilly didn’t answer and just kept walking.
But even though she didn’t show it on the outside, her heart was pounding so hard she thought she was going insane.
Gilly had experienced Sarah’s intact form as a guardian in the second tomb.
So it occurred to her that perhaps Temar might also exist in a tomb in the same way.
In the form of a human who ‘appeared to be alive’.
At the same time, she had an ominous feeling.
‘If the first patriarch exists in a tomb somewhere… Would he be friendly to the young master?’
Sarah attacked Jin as soon as she saw him. She also heard from Jin that the guardian he met in the first tomb, Silderei Runcandel, was similar.
‘I have a bad feeling about this, but the decision is Young Master’s, not mine.’
When Gilly didn’t answer, Margiela sighed in disappointment.
“I just want to be on Sir Jin’s side, but I don’t think he likes me. Like unrequited love.”
Suddenly, Gilly stopped walking for a moment and looked back at Margiela.
“Kinzelo has always had friction with the young master since the beginning. During his time as a cadet, you kidnapped his people, formed an alliance with Zipfel, created strange objects, and threatened the world. In the process, more than just a few people were unjustly sacrificed.”
That wasn’t all, as Gilly continued.
“On top of that, using the compass you created, Zipfel has been collecting contractors as if collecting interesting objects, and the Dark Magic Association under Kinzelo also turned the citizens of the Holy Kingdom into Living Golems.”
“Ah…”
“I heard that you saw it yourself as well during the Holy Kingdom Incident. I’m talking about the victims of the Living Golem experiments. Didn’t you feel any remorse when you saw their hideous, lifeless bodies?”
“Well…”
“Just because you’ve been of slight help to him, don’t delude yourself. The young master could’ve overcome what happened even without you. The young master hates people like you the most in the world.”
Gilly, who had briefly revealed her blood lust, returned to her indifferent expression.
‘…Thinking back on these lunatics’ past puts me in a rage. There was no need for me to say that.’
And then, just as she was about to turn around and continue to guide the Yviliano siblings…
“It may be difficult for you to understand…”
Margiela opened her mouth with a faint smile.
“Though it may certainly look like we are the villains… We, Kinzelo, in the grand scheme of things, are doing good for the sake of the world.”
“Pardon…?”
“We will make the world a better place than it is now. And I sincerely hope that Sir Jin will also participate in that. When Sir Jin finally understands our intentions, he will think positively of us.”
Those words almost made Gilly lose her mind.
It certainly would have, had someone not grabbed her shoulder. Certainly.
“…Fourth Young Lady.”
It was Myu who placed a hand on Gilly’s shoulder.
“Fourth Young Lady? Are you allowed to call me that?”
“My apologies, 8th Flag-Bearer.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Next time, it won’t be just a warning, Gilly McRolan.”
“Yes, I understand.”
Gilly bowed her head deeply.
Myu’s gaze was directed toward the Yviliano siblings. She happened to be walking down the hallway when she overheard their conversation.
“These lunatics exist everywhere. Good for the sake of the world? Is that all these bastards from a third-rate terrorist group can say? You're annoying, so shut up and get lost, before I break your wheelchair and snap your arms as well.”
Immediately, murderous intent emerged from Vishukel’s eyes.
Myu snorted without paying him any concern.
“What’s wrong? Sir Vishukel, do you not like the sound of that? Do you feel like you’ve just been insulted?”
“Your words are too much, Lady Myu Runcandel.”
“Go to the arena if you want. This isn’t a banquet, but a flag-bearer has at least that much authority.”
Margiela, to make sure that her beloved brother wouldn’t be embarrassed or make mistakes while drunk on anger, thus spoke with a big smile.
“Oh my, you must be Lady Myu Runcandel. A pretty face with a harsh tongue has always been my preference. What a wonderful sight to see again!”
“What?”
“It was nice meeting you. I didn’t mean to offend you, but as a member of Huphestor’s low-ranking clan, I would appreciate your tolerance. Then, see you!”
Zoom!
Margiela pushed her wheelchair past Myu at full speed.
She was so fast that it was hard to believe her slender arms could make her move at that speed.
“Oh, and Lady Gilly. Thank you for seeing us out! Next time let me brew you tea.”
Vishukel glared at Myu for a moment before running after his sister.
That was the moment when a person he wanted to kill as much as Bouvard was added to his list.
“Gilly.”
“Yes, 8th Flag-Bearer.”
“Weren’t you about to cut them down just now? Have you, a mere nanny, gone mad?”
As Gilly nodded without being able to answer, Myu’s hand went up. She was going to slap her cheek.
Fortunately, that didn’t happen.
“Hey, Myu. Are you trying to slap the youngest’s nanny right now? Put your hand down.”
It was Mary.
Coincidentally, the place they were talking was in front of Mary’s room. So she had been listening to what was happening outside with interest, before making her appearance, knowing what was going to happen.
“Mary?”
“Are you allowed to call me that?”
“…7th Flag-Bearer.”
“That’s right. I’ll keep this short. If you don’t want to get beat up, be on your way.”
“Sister!”
“I swear, if you call me sister again… Hey, you idiot. You’ve put yourself in a situation where you can look good to the youngest, so why are you making a fuss and making yourself look worse to him? If you hit Gilly, can you handle the consequences?”
Of course, Myu had definitely not insulted the Yviliano Clan for the sake of Jin’s favor.
She just didn’t want to hear people like those from the Yviliano Clan and a ‘mere’ Kinzelo talk nonsense without fear in the Garden of Swords. She had no other intention whatsoever.
“Ha.”
“Ha? Keep going, I dare you.”
Gnash…!
Myu ground her teeth and glared at Mary.
“…I’ll back off today, but watch yourself as well, sister. Only animals become obedient from being beat. I’m human. Don’t think I’ll keep enduring this forever.”
“You’re good with your words. If even animals become obedient from being beaten, then humans should become more obedient, no?”
Mary shrugged as Myu walked away, her fists clenched and trembling.
“I understand why Luna found them so tiring.”
“…Thank you, Lady Mary.”
“Even though Myu was crude with what she said, you shouldn’t thank me, you should thank her. If you really had attacked the Yviliano Clan just now, there would really be no going back.”
It was a fact that Gilly knew best.
Just how difficult the situation would’ve been for Jin if she had been unable to control herself and attacked the Yviliano siblings.
She quickly began to hate herself.
She almost made a terrible mistake because of her emotions.
“Well, should I call it your sense of justice? Regardless, I like it. The nanny of a pureblood. I bet my nanny would’ve done the same, I guess?”
Mary chuckled and patted Gilly on the shoulder.
“Tell the youngest to set a date for the duel soon. And, Gilly…”
“Yes?”
“From what I’ve seen, the only time the youngest loses his temper and goes wild is when something’s happened to his companions. You’re particularly special to him, so be more cautious. You’re probably the most precious person to the youngest.”
