Chapter 98 - Flash Yaksha (3)
The knockback was so intense that Theo almost lost his grip on his sword. It appeared that the Griffin inside the White Moonlight Blade had been waiting to go on a rampage.
Ba-bump! Ba-bump!
The White Moonlight Blade drained the magic power from Theo’s dantian and dragon heart, matching the rhythm of his heartbeat.
However, it appeared that Theo’s power wasn’t enough. The blade started draining the moonlight from the shattered sky.
The collision between the two dungeons had created a mix of day and night, fragmenting the moon. The seeping moonlight flowed directly into the White Moonlight Blade, creating a massive current.
Fwoooo!
Vwoooom—
It looked as if the moon itself had descended onto the ground, and the name of the blade seemed more fitting than ever.
[You have successfully witnessed a portion of the White Moonlight Blade’s hidden mythos.]
[The Guardian Griffin has become stronger.]
A massive power started seeping out of the White Moonlight Blade.
Rattle, rattle!
‘No. Not yet.’
Theo suppressed his blade from unsheathing itself from its scabbard. All the while, he continued to follow the movements of the Faerie Dragon and the Desert Wurms with his eyes.
‘Just a little longer...!’
Rattle, rattle, rattle!
‘Almost...!’
Vwooom!
While waiting for an opportune moment, Theo noticed the Faerie Dragon and the Desert Wurms were clashing less intensely.
They were starting to tire.
‘Now!’
Theo swung the White Moonlight Blade into the sky with all his might, and a massive torrent of light burst upwards.
The silhouette of the moon followed upwards, adding to the luminance of the light. The focus of the moonlight made it appear as if the moon in the sky was protecting the White Moonlight Blade.
Slash!
The burst of light from Theo landed on a nearby Desert Wurm, decapitating it. Already wounded from its fight against the Faerie Dragon, it went down without any resistance.
Thud...!
The headless corpse of the Desert Wurm collapsed onto the ground.
Keeeeeegh!
Finally noticing the assault, other Desert Wurms tried to guard themselves, but the White Moonlight Blade sliced off all their heads with ease, as if to mock their efforts.
Trailing behind the flash of light was an apparition of the Griffin. The beast with the body of a lion, the tail of a dragon, and the wings of an eagle was rampaging through the moonlight, tearing the Desert Wurms into pieces.
It appeared as if it was enjoying its first hunt in a long while—or perhaps it was simply delighted by the feast.
Whatever the case was, the Griffin roared while looking up at the shattered moon.
Kraaaaah!
It was as if it was declaring this territory as its own.
Once it finished taking care of most of the Desert Wurms, the Griffin turned its sight towards the Faerie Dragon.
「Human, I have come to assist you. What is the meaning of this?」
Having read the Griffin’s gaze, the Faerie Dragon sent a thought directly into Theo’s mind.
The Faerie Dragon sounded calm, almost scolding Theo. However, Theo did not miss the underlying desperation in the dragon’s tone.
After a fierce battle, the Faerie Dragon was also wounded and exhausted.
‘As if you came to help.’ Theo scoffed.
Instead of a verbal reply, he answered with the swing of his blade.
The magic power in the air diminished at a rapid pace.
「Humaaaaan!」 The Faerie Dragon shouted in anger, raining down a fierce storm.
However, the Griffin simply used the winds as stepping stones as he went in for the Faerie Dragon’s jugular.
Chomp!
The Griffin now held the Faerie Dragon’s neck in its jaws.
「Human, as a Chosen One, you should know my value. Choose wisely. Among the many guardians of the Primordial Dragon, I am said to be the smartest. With a deep knowledge of magic, I can be of assistance in many—!」
“Sorry, but you got the order wrong,” Theo interrupted the Faerie Dragon’s desperate plea. “I am the sole significant other of the Guardian Dragon, the man who has inherited the will of the Primordial Dragon and will become the king of Ragnar.”
The Faerie Dragon’s eyes shook as they met Theo’s, which were far more ferocious than that of the Griffin.
“If you wanted to live, you should have first sworn your allegiance.”
「......!」
“Trying to bargain with the king is lese-majesty.”
「N-nooo...!」
“Pay for your crimes with death.”
The Faerie Dragon’s protest ended short as the Griffin tore off the Faerie Dragon’s head.
Gnaw! Gnaw!
The Griffin chewed and swallowed the Faerie Dragon. Once it was done with its meal, the Griffin wore a big smile on its face.

With the sensation of his body being flung out, Theo snapped back to reality.
Vwoom, vwoooom!
The White Moonlight Blade suddenly materialized in his hand, monster energy overflowing out from its black scabbard.
Fssss...
The monster energy started wrapping around Theo’s right hand ominously.
“Theo!” Evelyn shouted in panic. She sensed that something was wrong from the eerie energy.
“Stop!” Theo yelled, forcing Evelyn to stop where she stood.
Lost in the moment, he forgot to keep up the pretense. His focus was entirely concentrated on the White Moonlight Blade. Cold sweat dropped down the side of his face.
“Now that you’re full, you think you can challenge me?” demanded Theo, noticing the monster energy encroaching towards his heart and dantian.
The White Moonlight Blade was a monster sword known for its malevolence. It tended to tempt the owner into going on a rampage with it. That was why it took someone like the Black Dragon to wield it in Theo's previous life.
「I... I want to eat you. I... I want to chase the moonlight again.」
After satiating its hunger, the blade had regained its instincts. It was only natural that it was aiming for Theo next.
However...
“Are you this stupid, or are you just taking a shot in the dark?” Theo was well aware of the Griffin’s characteristics. He had never once believed it. “Didn’t you just hear me tell the Faerie Dragon that if they wanted to live, they needed to obey?”
Ba-thump, ba-thump, ba-thump!
Theo’s heart raced faster than ever, blood and magic power coursing all throughout his body, enhanced by the Body Cleansing Purification,
Flaaaash!
At the same time, the ring and earring both shone brightly.
「You killed us.」
「And now you’re looking to us for help?」
The voices of the Faerie Dragon and Desert Wurm echoed in his mind.
[Activating ‘Skill: Hatchling Synchro’ to awaken the guardians dormant inside the Relics of the Primordial Dragon.]
Theo’s mind gate opened wider than ever.
Fwoooo!
His head heated up, activating «White Fervor».
[Spending all stats points on Intelligence.]
[Intelligence: 42 → 57]
[Your realm of consciousness has expanded.]
Theo achieved synchronization with the consciousness of the Faerie Dragon and the Desert Wurm.
‘Let's set this straight. I’m asking for help. I’m giving you a chance to serve me.’
With the increase in [Intelligence], he could hear their ego more clearly.
「What...?」
「How dare you say that after you defeated us with a foul trick...!」
‘Like I said, I’m Lodbrok’s sole significant other. I’m also the successor of Fáfnir, your creator. How I use you both is entirely up to me, is it not?’
「......!」
「......!」
With the increase in the number of relics, Theo found it necessary to make the hierarchy clear.
Without it, it was clear that it would only cause chaos in the future—like the current rebellion by the White Moonlight Blade.
A liege and his subordinates.
A master and his tools.
This relationship had to be made clear from the start. Or else.
‘If you don’t like me, you can say no. I have no intention of forcing someone to serve me. Nor will I seek them out. Ever.’
「......」
「......」
‘Now decide. What will you do?’
Would they obediently serve him? Or would they refuse and choose to go back into their relics?
Theo forced an ultimatum upon them.
「...I shall follow you.」
「I do not wish to be dormant again for so long.」
The Faerie Dragon and the Desert Wurm both accepted their fate.
Despite what they tried to say, they had acknowledged Theo the moment they lost to him.
Even if Theo won thanks to the Griffin, victory was for those who could maximize everything at their disposal.
At the end of the day, it was Theo’s knowledge and skills that gained him the victory, and neither relic had any intention of denying that fact.
As such, they decided Theo was worthy of their powers.
Ding! Ding!
[The ‘Guardian: Faerie Dragon’ acknowledges you as their true master.]
[You have obtained ‘Skill: Faerie Buff’.]
[The ‘Guardian: Desert Wurm’ has pledged their allegiance to you.]
[You have obtained ‘Skill: Wurm Eater’.]
[Faerie Buff
· Rank: C
· Mastery: 1%
· Effect: Receive a blessing of the faerie, increasing your immunity and resistance as well as cultivating your magical talents.]
[Wurm Eater
· Rank: C+
· Mastery: 1%
· Effect: Increases your attack power based on your opponent's remaining health.]
‘There we go.’
They were both buff-type skills.
Theo intended to use these skills to the best of his ability to put the White Moonlight Blade back in its place.
Flash—
The ring and the earring both let out a cold glow, even colder than the White Moonlight Blade.
[Activating ‘Skill: Faerie Buff’ to drive away the monster energy with the enhanced immunity.
[Activating ‘Skill: Wurm Eater’ to increase your attack power.]
The combined power of the two relics started expelling the monster energy of the White Moonlight Blade outside.
Soon, the blue light encroached onto the White Moonlight Blade.
「No...!」
The Griffin let out a howl as it sank into the realm of subconsciousness, silencing its ego.
[The ‘Guardian: Griffin’ bows its head again.]
Vwoom! Vwoom! Vwoooom!
The three relics resonated, having sworn their total allegiance to Theo.
They had now formed a trifecta, each keeping the others in check.
Now, even if one became demonstrably stronger, it would struggle to pose a serious threat to Theo, as the other two would go for the lone relic’s throat.
Vwooom...
“Phew...!” Theo let out a sigh of relief. He smiled with satisfaction, having gained control over the relics.
“What the...?” Evelyn muttered in confusion over what she had just witnessed.

At the Graveyard of Broken Swords.
Kyle, holding his arms behind his back, strolled through the quasi-cemetery with a light chuckle, “You let him pull one over you. That’s not very like you.”
Chereeep...!
Atop one of the swords sat a black skylark with a pouty face.
“You seem dissatisfied with the turn of events. I can’t blame you. You lost Ed from right under your nose.” Kyle let out a rare burst of laughter.
That was how entertained he was by the black skylark’s mistake.
However, the skylark was up in arms.
Chirp! Cheep cheep!
As it smacked the ground with its wings, it was clear it was genuinely furious.
“I don’t quite see it that way. Besides, you know better than anyone who’s behind Ed.”
Behind Ed Troivan was the great Troivan Clan of the East. With them was also the Holy Demon Church.
However, the duo was aware that behind them was an even greater being, the reason Kyle had to remain in Wintera.
Chirp chirp!
“Why did I do nothing but watch when I knew all that?”
Chirp!
“Hmm... Are you asking because you truly don’t know? Or are you simply feigning ignorance?”
Chirp chirp! Chereeeep!
Kyle stroked his chin.
The playful mood vanished into thin air, as Kyle said in a serious tone, “Barry.”
The loud antics of the skylark immediately stopped.
Barry. That was a nickname from their youth that very few people still remembered.
“As you know, I wish for Ragnar to last an eternity... And I want it to shine as brightly as it always has. The promise that you, me, Julius, and Osa made under that peach tree is what still drives me today.”
Kyle began to stroll between the broken swords again.
“These things are necessary for Ragnar to continue to shine. Any being that does not face danger is bound to deteriorate.”
The black skylark maintained its silence. He always knew that Kyle had a much bigger perspective than normal people, but it seemed especially poignant today.
“You know, don’t you? In the long-term, their growth also means the growth of our Ragnar.”
......
The skylark had stopped chirping entirely.
“And so, though I may form a hostile relationship against them, I cannot push away those who were once in my grasp. That would be a violation of the «Geas» I swore long ago.”
Kyle put on a faint smile as he turned his gaze back towards the skylark.
“Because I didn’t follow your wish. Because I overlooked their actions. Don’t resent me too much. You’re the last person I want to be resented by.”
Unable to reciprocate Kyle’s gaze, the skylark looked sideways.
Cheep chirp.
Kyle couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of the bird’s light grumbling.
“Let’s set this headache-inducing topic aside. Tell me about Theo. It seems like he’s not showing any signs of what you were concerned about. In fact, Julius was grumbling about how it’s not like you to be so interested in someone.”
Chereep, chirp chirp!
The skylark scoffed at the mention of Julius, going on a tangent.
Hearing the good news, Kyle was able to laugh wholeheartedly. He was delighted that the one to charm all of his blood brothers and his sister was his own son.
‘For now, I can give him a pass...’
Kyle prayed that Theo would maintain his current heart. However, he knew well that it wouldn't be easy. With an ace like regression up their sleeve, anyone would be tempted to give in to its convenience.
However, the moment that happened, the trust he and the Black Dragon held with him would be shattered.
‘It’s been a while since we’ve seen each other,’ thought Kyle.
He decided it would be good to talk again in person.
As long as Theo didn’t misuse his regression...
‘He’ll be the best weapon Ragnar can have,’ Kyle thought while stroking his chin. A bemused look on his face.
However, he was not cognizant that a faint smile loomed on the corner of his lips.
