Chapter 356

Leo reached out, and the previously shattered Cometes soared into the air. Upon touching Leo's hand, it emitted a radiant light and regained its original form.

Whoosh!

Not only that, a brilliant light erupted around Leo as the world that had burned alongside him was reconstructed.

It was nothing short of a miracle.

It was the moment Leo affirmed Seiren, the Sorcerer of the Comet.

Everything was restored to its original state.

Powerful mana swirled from Cometes in Leo's hand.

This Cometes was a mere illusion, existing only within Seiren’s Hero’s World, unlike the same Attack Reward Seiren had acquired from Luna’s Hero’s World. And yet, it possessed the same power as the real thing within this world. Thus, it exerted its power only in the hands of those deemed worthy.

Before Seiren entered the Hero’s World to confront Erebos, she bestowed upon her younger sibling a portion of her mana and legacy.

In this world, perhaps only the descendants of her siblings were worthy of wielding Cometes’ power.

Cometes shone brilliantly in Leo’s grasp. It wouldn’t have glimmered like that merely by being held in another’s hand, not even in Seiren’s.

Leo gazed at the radiant Cometes and handed it to Seiren, who accepted it and rose to her feet.

"Are you… really Kyle?" she asked in disbelief.

"That’s right."

"How in the…? What happened? How do you know me? And what exactly is that…?" Seiren inquired, confusion etched across her face.

Kyle, the Hero of the Beginning. One of the Great Heroes, and one of the last to finally overthrow the Evil of the Beginning and restore peace to the world.

Seiren, who had targeted the Hero Records of the Great Heroes time and again, had met Kyle several times. However, those encounters were mere sightings within the Hero’s World. No matter how real they seemed, they were ultimately a fantasy.

To Seiren, Kyle was a figure from 2000 years ago. Yet the fact of the matter remained that Kyle knew of her. Moreover, he looked completely different from what she knew.

Leo smirked at Seiren’s confused expression.

"Reincarnation," he said simply. "I heard your story from Melina."

Seiren’s eyes widened at the answer. "Melina…?"

Dragon Lord Melina, the last of the Heroes of Creation to challenge him.

"I heard from her that you were doing your best."

Seiren bowed at that.

She understood it was just a way to encourage her, but she knew just as well that it was also about buying time.

The Heroes of Creation, herself included, were likely the first and last to fully conquer the Hero Records of the Great Heroes. In the process of trapping Erebos in the Hero Records, they had divided the records to keep him contained.

Along the way, the records of many heroes, including those of the Great Heroes, were damaged and scattered throughout the world.

Even with the powers of the Great Heroes inherited, they had failed to prevent Erebos from escaping.

Knowing this, Seiren couldn’t bear to look up.

Leo watched her clench her teeth and look down guiltily. He placed a hand on Seiren’s head and said, "Thank you."

Her head jerked up in surprise.

"For protecting the world we fought to preserve. Thank you for making our efforts meaningful."

Seiren’s cheeks flushed at Leo’s heartfelt gratitude.

His words were reward and salvation after thousands of years of desperation. A ray of light in the long, pitch-black darkness with no end in sight.

"I know it’s a lot to ask,” Leo began with a smile of apology, "but could you keep trying for a little bit longer?"

There was a moment of stunned silence, then a bright smile stole across Seiren’s face. “Of course!"

Hope was finally in sight. She sensed that the long-awaited resolution was finally within reach.

Cometes, now held by Seiren shone brilliantly.

The sorcery of the Sorcerer of the Comet was now in full swing.

‘I can do it.’

Seiren steadied her hand.

Rummmmble!

The surrounding mana buzzed.

The beginning of everything. The source of all existing heroes.

A word from the Hero of the Beginning, the one who first saved the world.

What could be more encouraging than this?

‘I am Seiren Tingel, the Sorcerer of the Comet.’

"Stella Chain."

As the massive spell was conjured, a chain of starlight emerged.

‘I carry on the will of Luna, the Poet of the Stars!’

Seiren’s eyes shone.

Chi-chi-chi-chi-chi-chiiiiiiiiing!

With a loud crash, the chain shot through the air.

Leo took the world that was already breaking apart and rewrote it so it could regain its original form. That rejuvenated world became the most powerful prison to confine the darkness once more.

Shiiiiiiing!

From nothing, a hole in space opened and black flames erupted from within.

Leo squinted at the sight.

‘Erebos.’

This was different from the fragments and thoughts he had seen since his reincarnation.

It was the piece of Erebos he had sealed previously. A spark of pure evil capable of destroying the world.

Crash-crash-crash-crash-crash-crash-crash-crash!

[I’m surprised.]

Erebos, attempting to escape into the outside world, squinted as he saw the world returning to its original form.

[The prison set by those abominable gods has been restored. What kind of trick is this?]

It was Seiren who spoke. "Only that the true master of this world has returned."

[True master?]

Rummmble!

Erebos’s flames swirled more violently. He did not wonder why or how this had come to be. He understood Seiren’s words immediately, in fact, but now recognized her as a creature comparable to a god.

Erebos’ dark red eyes shifted to the human beside Seiren.

Fwa-fwoosh!

[I see.]

Erebos’s eyes flashed.

"It’s been a long time." Leo’s eyes sparkled with life. "But I didn’t want to see you again."

Crash-crash-crash-crash-crash-crash!

A black flame engulfing everything struck Leo. However, before the black flame could reach him, Seiren’s sorcery repelled the black flame.

Leo, who didn’t even glance at the flames burning around him, fixed his gaze on Erebos.

[The Surviving Hero. How can you exist in this world with a new body?]

"Isn’t it the will of the gods to completely eradicate you?"

[You know how to run your mouth. But you did not defeat me alone in your past life, did you?]

Leo laughed. "Of course not. But even though 5,000 years have passed, it doesn’t mean I’ve lost my connection with them. Because over generations, our bond continues…"

He reached out, summoning Polyum as he received another message.

"Just like now."

[The sorcery of the Poet of the Stars, inherited by Seiren, will be inherited by you now.]

Polyum’s mana, now restored, reacted to Luna’s mana and emitted a brilliant light.

'I get it, the real power of the Hero Records.'

The Hero Records were a tool that connected generations. A system that inherited the power of the predecessor heroes.

But Leo, as the owner of the Hero Records, was special.

Seiren’s Hero’s World, where Leo was now, was merely a newly written—albeit intact—Hero Record. A complete world beyond Erebos’ reach, like the Book of Shadows.

Here, Leo automatically received the rewards Seiren earned from previously conquering Luna’s Hero’s World.

‘It’s strange to think about it. That I would be the one to receive them as rewards.’

The Hero Records.

The Record system described by Fiva, the god Leo had met in Luna’s Hero’s World, literally narrated the power of the recorded individuals.

'The owner of the records was free to use the power of the recorded heroes.'

A miraculous gift left by the gods.

That was why Leo gained the power that originally belonged to Luna, the power that Seiren had later acquired.

Erebos’ eyes shook as he watched Leo shine brilliantly in the starlight.

[You—]

"Wait a little longer."

Leo stared down Erebos and lifted Polyum.

"I’ll be on my way to finish you soon."

Whooooooooooong!

A massive mana barrier formed in the air.

Seiren’s eyes widened at the intricately embroidered runes.

‘The End? No… this is…!’

Even Seiren had never seen it in person before.

"Innocence."

The pure white glow shone brilliantly.

Erebos’ body, exposed to the light, distorted.

[In the end, all you are doing is just struggling. Because you’re all alone now.]

Whoosh!

Then, when his form was entirely engulfed in pure white light, he vanished.

"So it’s true… you are Kyle," Seiren remarked in wonder.

"It’s just the power of the Hero Records." Leo clicked his tongue as he sensed Luna’s sorcery swirling in his body. "This Hero Record must eventually be destroyed. Its pages can be used as a passageway at any time."

But when the Hero Record was destroyed, Luna’s mana would disappear as well.

"But still… thanks to your reincarnation, we can all hold a little more hope in our hearts," Seiren said firmly, looking at the place where Erebos had vanished. "I’ll be waiting for you, Kyle."

Without a word, Leo took in Seiren’s determined expression, then raised his foot.

Smack!

Seiren yelped. "What the—?! Why did you hit me all of a sudden?" she asked bewildered, rubbing her hip where Leo had landed a blow.

"Hey, you. You wrote that weird novel about how much I loved Luna, didn’t you?"

"Didn’t I write that you were tall and handsome too?" Seiren replied, unadulterated confusion on her face. But then she saw Leo’s fierce expression. Rushing to get the words out, she stammered, "B-but you didn’t know how much Luna hid her feelings! Luna loved you so much!"

"She never even gave me a hint."

"She gave you plenty of signs!" Seiren was momentarily caught up in the emotion of their previous exchange, but soon enough, her eyes were shooting wide with realization. "Wait! Did you pretend not to know Luna’s feelings? Please tell me!"

"I’ve known since my reincarnation. Thanks to Luna’s confession through the Hero Records."

Seiren whined. "And you were both the same height too."

Smack! Smack! Smack!

"Ow! That hurts!"

Leo hit Seiren on the head with Polyum.

Despite her unfiltered screams, Seiren never apologized for insulting the height of one of the Great Heroes.

What a shame it would have been had future generations witnessed the childish squabble between the Great Hero who saved the world and one of the Heroes of Creations who maintained the legacy of the Great Heroes.

"You’re a menace of a junior."

"Luna said I was cute."

"You don’t have to be shameless like Luna.”

Seiren laughed at Leo’s words.

Leo eyed her cackling form, then said, "Would you give me your hand?"

At his words, Seiren extended her hand with a puzzled expression.

“I’m not Luna, but…"

Leo handed Polyum to Seiren. Her eyes widened.

"If Luna had been alive, she would have named you as her successor," he concluded.

It was a special ritual for a sorcerer to hand a cane to another sorcerer. The gesture symbolized the acknowledgment of a successor.

Seiren took Polyum, which had long since vanished, directly from Leo and shed a tear.

"Kyle, did I… did we do a good job?"

Leo thought over Seiren’s question as she held Polyum tightly in her arms, then said this:

“Would you like to step outside for a moment?"
