Chapter 56

In the middle of the audience, Yeryeong looked into Un-hyang's eyes after the woman asked for her name.

'Who is this girl?' She’d recognized the disguise just by looking into her eyes? Maybe it was from the first moment their eyes met.

Still, all Un-hyang knew was that she was in disguise. Just because she recognized the disguise, it didn't mean she could know her true face.

Even so…

'She's no ordinary person.' Among the players Yeryeong had recently met, Un-hyang was, by far, the most outstanding. She was on a completely different level compared to the mediocre players Kim Ilsu had sent to find them.

Thinking that, she found something strange… She'd met a player of that caliber by chance in a mere 3rd-floor tournament?

'Did Ilsu send her to capture me?' If that were the case, things wouldn't be so quiet. If her identity and location had been exposed, the arena would have been in chaos already.

Un-hyang couldn’t have been a Blue Zone player. Although she noticed the disguise, she didn't seem to care about her true identity—she was merely asking for her name without taking any further action.

'Un-hyang… Where have I heard her name?' Yeryeong felt that she'd heard her name before. While she was mulling over the strange feeling of unease…

"What's your name?" Un-hyang asked her again.

If she stayed silent any longer, she would definitely get suspicious. Finally, Yeryeong opened her mouth. "YeJeong."

She changed her name slightly, altering just one character. Revealing her name could lead to unpredictable consequences, so it wouldn't hurt to be cautious.

"YeJeong? Hmm…" It was a somewhat skeptical response.

Un-hyang stared intently at Yeryeong's hidden face and said. "Alright. I won't ask you why you're here." She seemed certain there was something more.

Yeryeong replied with a nonchalant smile on her face. "What other reason could I have? I'm just here to watch."

"Come on." As if she found it hard to believe, Un-hyang shrugged and said, "Just in case, don't try to ruin the match or anything. If you must do something, wait until it's over. Otherwise, I won't just let it happen."

Although the warning was laced with a threat, Yeryeong felt relieved. If she knew her true identity or even suspected it, she wouldn't be speaking to her so arrogantly.

‘So she doesn't know who I am.’ Yeryeong asked, "Why wouldn't you?"

"Because I'm the manager of this stream." Un-hyang showed her Su-hyeok's stream. "If the match gets ruined, the stream will get ruined too, right? I can't let that happen."

"Manager…?" Yeryeong's eyes widened. She thought it was strange that the other woman was watching a stream when she could just watch in person.

She was the manager of the streamer she’d been watching.

"Really? Are you streamer Lee Su-hyeok's manager?" Yeryeong's eyes shone.

Un-hyang was surprised by how enthusiastic Yeryeong looked. "Huh? Yes. I am."

"I've been enjoying the stream since the moment he fought Wolf Warrior Greg."

"Really? Then you've been watching since the very beginning.'

"Of course! Wasn't that the first day he streamed?"

"Yes, exactly! Woah, so you're a real fan, aren't you?"

"Of course. Do you think I'd be a fake?"

Once the conversation started, it didn't easily end.

"Really? The 1st viewer?"

"Yes. Isn't it truly fate?"

"Come on… You're not lying about being the manager, are you?"

The initial wariness disappeared, and the two continued talking over their shared interest.

"Have you been a fan of Lee Su-hyeok for a long time too?"

"A fan…?" Yeryeong hesitated at the sudden question. Most people watched Lee Su-hyeok's streams because they were fans—they were bound by the title and shared a sense of belonging as viewers.

Yeryeong also watched Lee Su-hyeok's streams, but could she really consider herself the same kind of fan?

"A fan…?" She couldn't answer. After all, she wasn't a fan. Rather, she was a friend. Just like them, she missed Lee Su-hyeok, but the nature and degree of that longing were different.

'What?' Un-hyang was also confused by her reaction. If she'd been watching since the Wolf Warrior Greg hunt, it meant that she'd been watching from the start.

That would mean she must have sought out the stream because it featured Lee Su-hyeok, yet she couldn't bring herself to say she was his fan?

Un-hyang gave Yeryeong a curious look again.

WHOOM—!

Thunder rang from the kit Un-hyang was watching and in the center of the arena’s viewing screen as well.

WHOOM—!

The spear in Su-hyeok’s hand roared, and blood flowed down his fingers as he gripped the lightning.

'I can't believe I actually managed to do it.' Shaping lightning into a weapon wasn't an easy task. Enveloping a weapon with an element and creating a weapon out of it were worlds apart in difficulty, after all.

Of course, the difference in power was just as vast.

'I have to show it.'

It was perfect for the situation.

'I'm streaming, after all.'

- Woah, crazy.

- He can already do that?

- This is pure bliss.

 - He just threw it a while ago. I never imagined he’d have already gotten the hang of it.

During the 2nd floor's trial, Su-hyeok threw a one-time-use Legendary item known as the Lightning Spear.

'Lightning is originally more suited to a spear than a sword.'

Even though he'd used it only once, the sensation through his hand was clear.

The Lightning Trial had told him that lightning was strongest when thrown.

'This isn't my first time crafting a spear, but…'

The spear he made in his previous life and the new one were completely different. Of course, the one he made during his prime was more powerful, but even so, he could confidently say…

'This is the real one.'

BZZT—

The tingling current climbed up his hand, and the blood flowing down turned black and solidified. Though he’d managed to make it, it wasn’t easy.

'It's still too much to use now.'

Even he could tell it wasn't a weapon meant to be handled on the 3rd floor. It was a miracle he could make it in the first place.

['Selfish Sacrifice LV5' resists the damage from 'Lightning'.]

Of course, he was only able to do so thanks to Selfish Sacrifice, which had reached level five.

'The effectiveness is definitely increasing with the level.'

It was worth draining his precious points.

The more points he poured in, the more the skill's effect improved. As expected, choosing Selfish Sacrifice to overcome the Lightning skill’s weakness was the right choice.

He couldn't help but sigh.

'I need to start saving points again.' It seemed that his obsession with points would continue for a while.

"That spear…" Omar's eyes shook as he looked at the lightning spear. "What? How could you…"

"Didn't I ask you a question?" Su-hyeok asked.

"What?" Omar asked in confusion, then he recalled Su-hyeok's question.

"Does it look like I'm running away?"

If he said something like that after seeing that spear, it would be like spitting in his own face. "No…"

"Let me ask you one more thing…" Su-hyeok said as he raised his spear and caused thunder to rumble again.

WHOOM—!

"Are you going to run?"

"…" Omar went silent. He knew it was a provocation, and a very obvious one at that.

That question meant one thing…

"Running away is what the weaker one does," Su-hyeok continued.

Omar couldn’t bring himself to back down. 'If I break that…'

A scene flickered before his eyes—a step he hadn't been able to take so far. He couldn't bring himself to run away from it.

'At that moment, I will be able to reach it.'

Step—

Omar didn't run away. Instead, he took a step along with his spear toward his fear.

Psss-.

The blue steam emanating from Omar's body intensified. He could feel his muscles and how his Magic Power had spread through every corner of his body.

As he was walking into the lightning, a conversation from a few years prior flashed through his mind.

"Team Leader, may I ask a rude question?"

It was while he was trying to clear the Thunder Cave along with Don Zhao—they had already failed the raid about three times together.

It was common for the raid team's members to change. No matter how much Blue Zone wanted to clear the Thunder Cave, for the individual players, it was a waste of time.

"You’re being rude just by wanting to ask."

"Ah, really?"

"What is it?"

"I was just wondering why you're so obsessed with the Thunder Cave."

It was a question he'd heard countless times. Most people who knew Omar had that curiosity. What was in there that made him so obsessed?

In the first place, there was no way he knew what was at the end of the dungeon.

"I don't know."

"What?"

"People like me, who get crazy obsessed with something, tend to forget the reasons."

"What does that mean?"

"If you say it grandly, it's conviction. If you say it foolishly, it's obsession."

That's right. For most people, it would seem like an obsession, but that didn't matter to him.

"What I can confidently say is that I'm sure my life will be determined by whether I can overcome this or not."

That thought had been lingering around his head since the moment he failed it for about the 10th time.

"That's why I can't give up. If I give up here, I'll become someone useless."

"But if you succeed… you'll be able to do anything."

Omar responded with a smile instead of an answer.

Clearing the Thunder Cave was the first obstacle that he, a player who was born without a talent, had to overcome.

'Is this my second wall?' Omar faced his second wall after the Thunder Cave.

Thud-!

"AAAHHH-!"

HE aimed his spear at the opponent's neck and sped forward. From the tip of his toes to the top of his head, he poured all of his strength into the spear.

Su-hyeok watched as Omar rushed toward him in a spear-throwing stance.

"Amazing." He couldn't help but acknowledge him—the man’s obsession with the Thunder Cave hadn't been in vain.

He admired the sight of a player who’d become one with his spear.

'I can't face him half-heartedly.' To respect Omar’s 10 years, he needed to show him that he hadn’t taken the Thunder Cave lightly.

In the end, he needed to prove he always had the qualifications to challenge it.
