Chapter 52
[Lee Su-hyeok: 2.91x]
The odds were set.
Un-hyang grumbled as she looked over them. "Everyone must be blind. How does this make any sense?"
Since the returns were close to three times the amount, that meant that most people had bet on Omar.
"Well, that guy's a bit stronger right now, but just a bit…" Un-hyang wasn't the type of person who easily acknowledged others, but not even she could deny Omar’s strength.
It wasn't that she recognized his talent—he'd achieved his power through his tenacity and effort. Even if some people saw him as foolish…
'At least, in this area, he's like a dragon.' Even if she'd made a bet with Cheon-ryang due to her fan spirit, she wasn't blinded by it.
She had eyes, so she knew that, objectively speaking, Omar had a higher chance of winning the tournament.
"A draw… This is the best possible outcome." The confidence she’d seen in Su-hyeok during his collab with Hawk Eye lingered in her mind—it was as if he’d intentionally made it a draw.
She’d felt that, if he wanted, he could have done more.
'Was he acting?' She wasn't sure. If he were the Su-hyeok from 20 years prior, he wouldn’t have made such a pointless bluff.
She was his manager, though, and he was more like her idol, Lee Su-hyeok, than anyone else.
'Let's believe in him.'
Un-hyang's gaze turned toward the center of the arena. She saw Su-hyeok standing not far from Omar.
'I'm his manager, after all.'
Her gaze then shifted to the kit in her hand. The stream had started.
Even though she was at the venue, her world was right there.
* * *
The stream started.
- Finally!!
- SuHi!
- Let's go for the win~
- Long time no see!
Su-hyeok smiled at the greetings as viewers joined the stream. Even though he started it as a way to make money, he was enjoying it.
"It's been a while, everyone."
- You're the one who made us wait so long.
- We were always here.
- For real. It was you who didn't stream.
The viewers’ complaints didn’t bother him. According to Un-hyang, people complained because they liked him.
The problem lay elsewhere…
'There are too many people.' Su-hyeok tried his best to read every message. He had a hard time doing so during the trial, but he thought, since he was just chatting, it might be doable.
It was simply impossible. No matter how good his eyesight was, the messages went by too quickly for him to read.
'This hasn't happened except during collabs.' In the end, Su-hyeok gave up on reading all of the messages.
'How many viewers are there…?'
[Viewers: 3,179]
Already? It hadn't been that long since he started streaming. He’d felt that his viewers had been rapidly increasing, but it felt a bit extreme.
'At this rate… I will definitely surpass 10,000.'
It was the effect of the collaboration and the power of his showmanship.
- Is this the Lightning Room?
- What's the Lightning Room?
- It seems to be slang used by the newbies who were drawn in by the highlight video.
- These newbies, lol.
The highlight video had a strong effect. He never imagined it would draw in so many viewers. Maybe that day’s stream would be a significant turning point.
- Did you enter the tournament?
A viewer's chat caught his eye. With that, questions related to the tournament started pouring in. The chaotic atmosphere due to his long hiatus calmed down a bit.
"Yes, I'm participating."
- I saw him, lol.
- I'm currently watching the stream while sitting in the audience.
- Watching the stream while being there? That's wild, lol.
- Can't you see it better from the audience?
Why would they watch the stream if they were there in person? As a streamer, he was grateful, but he couldn't understand.
- I'm here to interact.
- Yeah, no matter how you shout from the audience, you can't even be heard.
"Is that why?" He couldn't understand. Why would someone go to such lengths for someone they had never even seen in person?
A sense of inexplicable responsibility weighed on his shoulders. Su-hyeok nodded and spoke to the rapidly increasing viewers.
"Thanks. I'll repay you with a victory."
- Okay, deal.
- Let's go for the win~!
- He might end up 2nd.
- Yeah, this time is different.
- I'm watching to see when he will fail.
Was it because of Omar? There weren’t many who were confident in Su-hyeok's victory. The general sentiment was that it was a reckless challenge, and there was one thing that couldn't be left out in such a challenge… missions.

['Lee Su-hyeok, I love you' has registered a mission.]
[Mr. Su-hyeok, I'm cheering for you >_< If you win, 30,000 points!]
- 30 thousand?
- That’s a big one.
- It will be hard to top it.
- Amazing.
Su-hyeok's eyes shone. It was a mission worth 30,000 points, which was on a whole different level compared to the ones before.
No, looking at the nickname, it was more like they were cheering him on than giving a mission.
'Lee Su-hyeok, I love you' could be called his lead fan since she had donated the most points to him.
"You aren't going to regret this, right?"
['Lee Su-hyeok, I love you' has donated 100 points.]
[No.]
- Short and cool.
- Burning 100 points for one message.
- What insane cost-effectiveness.
She had to have had extraordinary amounts of wealth.
"Thanks for the 30K points." Su-hyeok smiled for a moment, thinking his wallet would soon be full.
The competition started, and a huge field unfolded in the colosseum.
Fwoosh—!
The field swallowed up the 10,000 players, and the same message appeared before the participants' eyes.
[Would you like to participate?]
No matter how large the arena was, there were 10,000 people. The colosseum was too small to accommodate such a number. Moreover, if a trial format wasn't followed, players could actually die.
"Yes." One by one, the players, including Su-hyeok, entered the trial ground.
[You've entered the 'Preliminary Round'.]
A vast forest appeared—tall trees soared into the sky all around.
Before he knew it, Su-hyeok was standing by himself; the other players were nowhere to be seen. Using the power of the system, they entered Blue Zone’s tournament field.
[The 'Preliminary Round' is starting.]
[Fight until the total player count is reduced to 1,000.]
[Survivors: 10,109]
It was a simple and straightforward method objective.
Su-hyeok smiled. "So it's a solo match."
The tournament was a deathmatch. Of course, it was also a solo match. Regardless of the format, he had hoped for such a solo match.
On top of that, it was a deathmatch, a match category in which Su-hyeok excelled.
'We could end up meeting here…' Would he meet Omar in the preliminary stages?
Only one in ten people would make it through, and there were only two ways to effectively survive…
'My options are to either hide or reduce the numbers with my own hands.'
Of course, Su-hyeok had no intention of hiding. Fighting was in his nature, and it would make his stream more entertaining.
['Two Holes' has registered a mission.]
[I can't resist a death match. 100 points per kill.]
['Vongole Pasta' has registered a mission.]
[A point per kill in a deathmatch is a must, hahaha. I'll put 100 points per kill as well.]
['Mission Villain' has registered a mission.]
[Kill Don Zhao for 1,000 points. Kill Omar Schneider for 10,000 points.]
Missions were registered one after the other.
Su-hyeok's eyes lit up. "200 points per kill…?" He hadn't been planning on hiding anyway, but he would need a change in strategy for the most points.
If he took down 100 people, he would earn 20,000 points in no time.
On top of that, if he managed to kill Omar, he would get 10,000 points. If he added the victory mission to that…
'60,000 points.' He would be able to recover most of the points he'd spent by raising his skill level.
He could definitely feel his income increasing as his viewer base grew larger.
- Look at Su-hyeok's eyes, lol.
- This guy really likes money.
- A money-hungry Su-hyeok… What kind of alternate world is this?
Rustle—
He heard something in the tall grass.
Su-hyeok turned his head to the side. "Huh…"
A man made eye contact with him and grimaced in regret. It seemed that he recognized Su-hyeok.
There would be no need to use the Lightning skill against just a single person.
"Ah, look, 200 points is just walking around," Su-hyeok said.
The participant turned around and tried to run.
"Thanks for the meal."
* * *
Step—
Somewhere deep in the isolated forest, Omar walked forward at a slow pace.
[Survivors: 8,544]
1,500 people had already been eliminated.
Still, Omar hadn't fought a single player. Rather than it being because he hadn’t encountered any, every player he came across chose to flee.
'I only have one goal…' Omar's mind was entirely focused on just one person. 'Lee Su-hyeok.'
Step—
He wasn't interested in anyone else. The player numbers would go down regardless as the trash took itself out, so it was best to prepare himself for the fight against Su-hyeok.
Rustle—
He heard rustling in the grass nearby and the sound of someone breathing. Omar stopped walking. "I let you go, and you brought a group?"
Snap—
He assembled the short spear he was carrying on his back into a long one. When he drew the weapon, figures hidden in the shadows of the trees began emerging one by one.
"You're quick to catch on."
"See? I told you hiding was pointless."
"We should have brought more…"
"Forget it. This is enough."
Mumble—
Dozens of players surrounded him, hoping to take Omar down.
"You made a good choice. You must eliminate a contender early to stand a chance." Omar wasn't flustered. Rather, it was expected. The players must have thought the preliminary was their only chance to take him down since they wouldn’t stand a chance in one-on-one matchups.
"No matter how many sheep gather, they're just sheep," Omar declared.
"There's nothing stronger than a group. Stop acting like you—"
BOOM—!
Suddenly, the lead player’s head exploded. Omar’s spear was pointed at him, but the man had been far beyond reach of the weapon.
Omar sighed. "I've encountered your kind more times than I can count."
The other players tried to retreat.
Thud—
Omar’s aura was that of a man who cared not for going against dozens of others by himself. Like a lone wolf approaching a flock of sheep, he fearlessly advanced toward them.
Paf—
"Eek…!"
"Just when-?!"
Appearing in the center of their group, Omar drew a large circle around himself with his spear.
Slash—!
Decapitated, blood poured from the players’ bodies.
"If you wanted to kill me, you should have at least brought Lee Su-hyeok with you."
