Chapter 126

In a secluded forest, far from the city, Ja Unyeop stepped forward.

"I'll ask one more time, just in case." Halting, he turned to look at Un-hyang. "Do you have any intention of returning peacefully?"

"No. Absolutely not." Along with a firm refusal, Un-hyang drew out her sword.

Ja Unyeop sighed. "Why do you hate home so much?"

"Home? You call that place home?" Un-hyang snorted and shook her head. "I've never once thought of that place as my home."

"Your thoughts don't matter. How else but home would you call a place where you were born and raised?"

"That place…" Un-hyang shook her head and swung her sword in refusal. "Forget it. What's the point in talking about that?"

"I don't understand you."

"You don't know anything."

"Say your goodbyes."

Recalling a memory from long ago, Un-hyang gently closed her eyes. "Why I hate that place so much…"

"It's the fate given to you."

As she slowly opened her eyes again, Ja Unyeop came into her view. He was someone who had a master-disciple relationship with Un CheonGuk and a high ranker with the nickname of 'Thunder Sword'.

He stood there, his sword drawn, ready to take her away.

"Let me ask something, Master," Un-hyang asked in a polite tone.

Ja Unyeop, sensing the fight was about to begin, sharpened his Magic Power. "Say it."

"You aren't willing to just leave, are you?" It was her desperate plea.

"Of course not." He, too, couldn't back down.

"Haa… I knew it." With a sigh, Un-hyang's sword turned red. "So you're planning to die by my hands."

"Everyone, get ready…"

Swoosh—

Clang—

The other martial artists drew their swords out. They were different from the ones who had come before. Unlike those who had accompanied Mu-hui, they were the Shinryeong Castle's elites.

Their swords all pointed at Un-hyang.

Whoosh—!

Un-hyang suddenly scattered a fierce wind in all directions and shot toward Unyeop.

WHOOM—!

CLANG—!

Their two swords clashed violently.

Un-hyang, who had reached Ja Unyeop in an instant by cutting through the warriors, glared at him. "Instead of using these pawns, why don't we settle it among us?"

"Your tongue has become sharper after wandering outside for so long."

CLANG—!

Pushing away the locked sword, Un-hyang attacked.

Swish—

Crack—

Their cuts sliced bamboo trees and sent the pieces flying in all directions. Hundreds of bamboo stalks were cut down in a single stroke, and each of the sword strikes created a curve.

Pif—

Unyeop's cheek was lightly cut. Despite having dodged and blocked numerous strikes, he'd missed one.

Thud—

The severed bamboo heads fell like rain. As the trees that had been blocking the moonlight fell, the surroundings brightened momentarily.

Under the moonlight, the warriors rushed at Un-hyang from all directions.

"STOP-!" A bolt of lightning shot toward Un-hyang.

WHOOM—!

The blue electricity engulfed her body.

Thanks to Unyeop's timely shout, the martial artists were spared from being swept away.

BZZ, BZZT—

The surrounding terrain changed once again. Charred bamboo trees fell to the sides, the ground caved in, and a long, powerful slash was carved into the center.

Seeing that strike, the warriors of Shinryeong Castle realized they had been stepping into a storm.

"So this is the power of the Thunder Sword…"

"They said he could summon lightning with a single strike. So the rumors are true."

Most of them had become players after having been born in Murim. That's why they had heard a lot about Thunder Sword Unyeop, a famous high-ranker of Murim.

He was someone who many martial artists admired.

"Don't charge recklessly! Your role is strictly to provide support."

"Understood!" In their hearts, they wondered if anyone could survive that strike unscathed. That strike had just altered the terrain. A normal person would have been burned to ashes or torn into pieces.

"Aren't you underestimating me too much?" From the midst of the collapsed trees, Un-hyang walked out, completely unharmed. "To think you'd only bring 30."

Flashing red light in her eyes and looking unparalleled in beauty, she pointed her sword.

WHOOM—!

Lightning struck.

A wave of blue electricity surged, engulfing her, and within it, Un-hyang moved.

Paf—

She closed the distance in a single step.

Ja Unyeon's eyes widened as his sword clashed with Un-hyang's.

CLANG—!

Sparks flew. The two swords grazed each other, and the distance between them widened again.

Whoosh—

A sword came flying from behind. One of the martial artists watching the fight aimed to stab Un-hyang in the back.

Un-hyang's hands reached out as if she'd been waiting.

Grab—

"…!" The martial artist's eyes widened in shock as his sword was caught barehanded. He'd expected her to block or dodge but never to catch a sword strike barehanded.

Paf—!

Crack-.

"Ugh!" The bones in the man’s chest shattered from her kick and pierced his heart.

Another martial artist had fallen, but even so, they kept charging forward like moths to the fire.

Swish—

Slash—!

Powerful sword strikes came from two directions at once. Basic techniques taught by Shinryeong Castle, the strikes resembling a dragon's claws aimed for Un-hyang's neck.

"I'm starting to get bored." Un-hyang lightly swung her sword, causing the two techniques to collide with each other.

CLANG-!

The martial artists lost their balance.

It wasn't a display of overwhelming strength. She’d just touched the core of the techniques and redirected the attacks.

"What's the point of using the Dragon Claw Sword against me?"

She'd been born and raised in Shinryeong Castle, so she naturally knew all of their basic techniques.

Bzz—

There was one opponent whose techniques she didn't fully understand.

WHOOM—!

Unyeop's sword rushed toward Un-hyang while drawing a blue line. Their swords clashed, and Un-hyang, having lost her balance, was pushed back.

Unyeop's hand touched her stomach. "Didn't I tell you?"

"Damn." She cursed, but it was already too late.

"They're here only to support."

WHOOM—!

The electricity from his palm sent her flying. Un-hyang broke the bamboo trees and fell to the ground in a cloud of dust.

"Ugh…" She quickly regained her balance while clutching her stomach. Her insides felt twisted, her body numb due to the electricity.

The minor wounds that she'd suffered from the sword were also a problem.

'It's the same pattern all over again.' The small wounds and the injury… she'd gotten all of them while dealing with other martial artists.

"You've chosen some high-quality bait, haven't you?"

Bait… That was the role of the 30 warriors from Shinryeong Castle.

They were there only to support Unyeop, but part of that support included distracting Un-hyang.

"They aren't people who should die like this."

Step—

Unyeop approached Un-hyang with a sorrowful look in his eyes. It was only natural. After all, more than 10 Shinryeong Castle's martial artists had already lost their lives.

"Their deaths won't even be recorded in history. They're just going to become fertilizer, buried in the soil."

"Yes, too bad."

"That's why—"

"That's why you should stop. If this continues, they'll all die." Un-hyang was confident that she could kill all 17 remaining warriors of Shinryeong Castle.

Unyeop knew that her words weren't baseless boasts.

"Even if that's the case, it doesn't mean that you're going to win."

Unyeop, by himself, was a greater threat than all of the other 30 combined. Even if she killed them all, as long as Unyeop was alive, the situation wouldn't be resolved.

"Are you okay with them dying?"

"It will hurt a bit, but what can I do? They're martial artists who accepted a mission from Shinryeong Castle."

"That's a meaningless death."

"Maybe, but as you know, we can't back down." Unyeop was right. Even if they returned, the result would be the same: they would all be killed by Un CheonGuk.

"Then let's settle this one-on-one!"

"Don't you know? Shinryeong Castle has our roots in the evil sects."

"Ugh!"

WHOOM, WHOOM—!

Every time their swords clashed, thunder roared. Ja Unyeop felt his wrist stiffen and inwardly marveled at Un-hyang's skill.

'He was right."

Before going there, Ja Unyeop was confident that he could handle her alone, but Un CheonGuk had persuaded him otherwise.

"Take at least 30 with you."

He couldn't understand it. No matter how much of a genius she was, she was a manager who hadn't participated as a player or martial artist for a while. Why go to such lengths to capture her?

"I can handle her by myself."

"No. You must prepare thoroughly."

"I know this is something important…"

"No. This isn't about whether it's enough or not."

After hearing those words, Ja Unyeop couldn't help but feel his pride was wounded.

"I'm not the same as before."

"I know. Thunder Sword, Ja Unyeop. It's quite an impressive title."

"You aren't even interested in me, so why are you talking as if you know what I'm…?"

"It isn't you but that child, the one whom I don't know." Those words surprised Ja Unyeop. To think Un CheonGuk would say that he couldn't grasp her. "Her talent is one that the gods have given. I can't even imagine how much she's grown."

A talent given by the gods…

It was very high praise from Un CheonGuk, someone famous for being stingy with compliments. Even though she was his daughter, he wouldn’t say such a thing lightly.

"Take them with you. If you aren't confident, don't hesitate to use them as bait."

It was shocking. Clashing with Un-hyang once, Ja Unyeop thought the same thing—that a one-on-one wouldn't be easy.

'A talent given by the gods…'

A genius. Among the countless geniuses in the world, she was like a star who the heavens had chosen.

Slash—!

Another martial artist who had tried to strike Un-hyang from behind was split in two by her sword.

In that brief opening, Ja Unyeop thrust his electricity-infused sword once more.

WHOOM—!

"Ugh…" Un-hyang staggered again. Her wounds were increasing. Like clothes soaked in drizzle or water slipping through a stone, she was slowly crumbling.

'But…' He gave her a pitying look. 'It seems the heavens gave you the talent but took away your fate.'

Unyeop adjusted his grip on his sword.

Injured as she was, he was confident that he could defeat her by himself.
