Chapter 117 - Mystic of the Dragon Slayer (2)
“Ahhhh!”
“H-help...!
“Why is the mystic trying to kill us? Why?!”
Absolute pandemonium unfolded before Dro’s eyes.
Members of the Geng gang were dropping dead like flies. Stabbed by bone spears, pierced by arrows, the ground became drenched in their blood.
Dro wondered where things went wrong.
They only wanted to avenge their dead brother. While they were at it, they were going to swipe Kriemhild’s power. After all, they were more deserving as residents of the Floating Archipelago.
“Oh Kriemhild, our great progenitor... Why are you punishing us with such a trial....?!” Dro mumbled, dazed by the situation.
Psshk!
* * *
Fwip, fwip—
“Shit.”
Seeing the spears and arrows coming at him, Theo enveloped himself with wind.
It appeared that he had been spotted.
Kieegh! Kegh!
Ki-kik! Kiki-kik!
Theo wondered what they were saying. Was it perhaps orders to catch him, the intruder?
«God of Tempest - Gale Walk»
Fwup! Thwup!
The bone spears penetrated the branches Theo ran across, missing him by just an inch. The skeleton soldiers huffed and stomped, angry that Theo slipped past them. They then started chasing after Theo again.
‘Though they look like they’re running without any direction, their formation isn’t breaking.’
Marching in the order of spearman and shieldbearer, archer and swordsman, and knight at the very back, they were like cogs in a well-oiled machine. It was a truly impressive exhibition of military formation.
Boom! Ka-boom!
Not to mention, the blasts of magic from the mages hiding within the formation were deadly accurate.
While knocking away their spells, Theo quickly pinpointed their location.
«Thunder Call»
Rumble! Crash!
Theo only aimed for the mages with his lightning.
Not having expected Theo to be capable of using magic, some of the mages were caught off guard and blown to smithereens. However, as time went on, shieldbearers started guarding the mages, nullifying Theo’s magic attacks.
‘This is going nowhere. They outnumber me too much. I need to break their formation first.’
No matter how many dragon bone soldiers he took care of, there were so many of them that Theo couldn’t make a meaningful dent in their numbers.
He came to a decision that he needed to take down the head to crumble their command structure.
Theo turned his gaze to the far back. Mounted on an armored horse, there was a skeleton wearing extravagant armor. This skeleton was also three times bigger than your average soldier. The blue flames that burned in its eye socket appeared to be looking directly at Theo.
‘I need to take him down first.’
Fwoosh—
Theo imbued extra strength into his legs, dashing toward the big skeleton in an instant.
The four skeleton knights guarding the skeleton commander raised their swords to stop him.
Klang!
Theo quickly twisted his body, flinging two of them away with the flat side of his Drake Blade.
The other two came in, aiming for Theo’s blind side.
Theo pushed away one of the knights by manipulating four death-bits with «Psychokinesis». Then, he drew the White Moonlight Blade and cut the fourth knight down by unleashing a sharp wind.
Shing—
“That takes care of one.”
Theo continued to run as he made the Death-bits do a 180 and released a Lightning Dragon attack.
With a blast of intense heat, the heads of two of the knights exploded.
Theo then closed in on the knight that was still regaining its balance after being flung away earlier.
“Last one.”
Flash!
The «Dragon Claw» struck the knight, and the knight’s sword and helmet both crumbled to dust.
Spears and arrows continued to rain down toward Theo, but it was easy enough to block them using the Lightning Dragons.
There were no other monsters to block Theo’s way.
However, Theo got a sense that the skeleton commander was smirking underneath its helmet—even though, as a skeleton, it should be devoid of any facial expression.
Clang!
Theo tried to strike the head of the commander down, but for the first time, his attack had been stopped.
The commander seemed to be adept at more than just barking orders. Sitting atop its horse, it looked completely unphased.
By the time Theo finished spinning in the air and landed on the ground, the commander was coming in for a lance charge. It was a deadly attack that coupled the speed of the horse with the sharpness of a lance!
Clop clop clop clop—
“Hmmph!”
Theo placed the fuller of the Drake Blade forward to shield him.
The impact of the lance charge made his skull ring like he had been struck with a large hammer, sliding him far back.
This was the first time he had lost in a bout of strength after obtaining [Colossal Might] and [Divinity].
‘No. This isn’t a matter of strength. It feels more like something is forcibly suppressing the flow of magic power...!’
Ba-thump! Ba-thump!
Theo mustered his dragon heart and dantian the best he could, initiating a magic power resonance. He grit his teeth, knocking away the lance with the Drake Blade. He then swung at the horse’s legs with the White Moonlight Blade.
The commander seemed intrigued by Theo’s actions. It let go of its lance and drew the broadsword hanging off the saddle, swinging it downward.
Cling! Clang! Clang!
The broadsword didn’t budge an inch no matter how many times Theo struck it with the White Moonlight Blade.
Dissatisfied with the result, the Griffin inside the blade roared as it unleashed a fierce monster energy.
However, the broadsword matched it with an equally deadly aura and killing intent.
No, it didn’t just match it. It managed to push it away.
‘It is magic power suppression!’
Theo could sense that the unique magic power of the commander was suppressing not just his magic power but even the monster energy of his sword.
However, it was hard to think clearly with the pain that ran across his body every time he clashed swords.
The horse started charging once again.
Neeeeigh!
Vwoom, vwoooom—
Every time the White Moonlight Blade cried, the broadsword unleashed a fiercer cry.
Whiiiiir!
[‘Skill: Lesser Drake’s Fear’ is being nullified by the opponent’s Dragon Slayer trait.]
[The White Moonlight Blade is unable to exert its full functionality.]
‘Dragon Slayer!’
This place was a mystic of Kriemhild and the Dragon Slayer Sword. It wasn’t a stretch to think that the nature and the Dragon Bone Army that composed this mystic also possessed Dragon Slayer traits.
Meanwhile, Theo was not only the significant other of a dragon, but he was also armed with the Relics of the Primordial Dragon.
He had stepped into the den of his natural enemy!
However, Theo didn’t let that stop him. He continued to muster what magic power he could.
There were still tens of thousands of dragon bone soldiers remaining. However, they were merely creations of the Dragon Slayer’s energy. They weren’t actual Dragon Slayers themselves.
‘How can I call myself the significant other of the Guardian Dragon if I can’t even take care of some lowly undead?’
With the Drake Blade in his right hand and the White Moonlight Blade in his left, Theo rapidly swung the two swords.
[Activating ‘Skill: Faerie Buff’ to enhance Colossal Might to the maximum.]
[Activating ‘Skill: Wurm Eater’ to increase attack power.]
[‘Fearie’ and ‘Wurm Eater’ wish to consume the opponent’s Dragon Slayer trait.]
The earring and the ring began to shine brightly.
Flash!
The flashes of light from Theo’s sword swings unleashed a heat blast and lightning, obliterating the surrounding area.
Fwoosh—!
Theo’s attack not only shattered the broadsword, it also destroyed the skull of the skeleton horse.
[Surpassing the Dragon Slayer trait.]
Shocked, the commander tried to escape the heat blast by jumping off the saddle.
“No you don’t,” Theo put on a cold smile as he unleashed a heat blast in all directions.
«Septuple Dragon’s Claw - Combo Link»
The Drake Blade and the White Moonlight Blade both swung seven times, creating a flurry of fourteen flashes of light. The force of the swings crossed over each other, quickly kicking up a whirlwind.
This was a sword path that Theo had not managed to figure out before this moment.
The sword marble handed to him by Kyle. The unknown ego within that marble was driving Theo to ecstasy.
It was a sword path subconsciously discovered by an unending obsession over the sword.
In the end, unable to withstand the whirlwinds, the commander was torn to shreds.
By the time the wind subsided, the only thing that remained was what looked like a femur bone.
“Haa... Haa...” Theo panted as he picked up the bone.
[You successfully retrieved a portion of Kriemhild’s bones: (1/206)]
“Haa... So it really is... Haa... a treasure hunt...”
The reason the commander was extra powerful was likely due to having one of Kriemhild’s bones.
But then, out of nowhere...
[‘Skill: Hatchling Synchro’ has been auto-activated to read the memories of the item.]
Fwooo!
The sight in front of Theo suddenly changed.

At a sandbank, a girl was looking after a strange creature that was swept to shore by the waves.
The creature resembled a dragon, but it was quickly dying from an unknown curse and poison.
“Do not stay here... This is a curse... from an old god that no one remembers anymore... the Forsaken God... It is not something an ordinary human like you can solve... Back off before it becomes dangerous... Go on...!”
The dragon continued to cry in pain, rambling words that were hard to understand, but the girl remained at the dragon’s side.
To the girl who had experienced a lifetime of discrimination and persecution, the dragon was her sole friend. She tried to treat the curse the best she could, and slowly, over time, the dragon started resisting the curse and regained his strength.
However...
“Is it true? A dragon is hiding here?”
“I’m sure of it. You know that slave that slays animals for the butcher?”
“You mean that creepy girl?”
“She carries a bunch of stuff over here every night. Kant says he stumbled upon it.”
“Whoa. If there really is a dragon here...!”
“Then we’ve hit the jackpot. Hehehe.”
As always, misfortune struck without warning.
Theo’s consciousness snapped back to reality.
“That dragon was likely the Sea King... Was the slave girl Kriemhild?”
It appeared that the relationship between Kriemhild and the Sea King was not so simple.
[You have successfully read the memories.]
[A fragment of Kriemhild’s Creed has been engraved.]
The back of Theo’s right hand lit up, leaving behind a small mark.
[You have gained resistance to the Dragon Slayer trait.]
Theo couldn’t decipher the single curved line, but he knew that it held Kriemhild’s power. He then guessed that the mark would grow if he collected more of her bones.
“I likely need to defeat more commander-level skeletons, but am I supposed to hunt them all?”
While brushing his fingers over the mark, Theo swept his gaze across the forest.
With the absence of their commander, their formation had fallen apart, and a large number of them blindly rushed towards Theo.
Even having gained some resistance to the Dragon Slayer trait, there was no way he could fight off all of them.
‘Do I dare use the Heart of Garuda?’
Theo remembered the heart he was given by Hilda.
‘No. I need to keep that as a last resort.’
Theo shook his head and changed his mind.
That only left one option. He needed to change the terrain to make hunting more advantageous for him.
This place was a forest, meaning there was only one way to change the environment.
Fire Arts.
[Expanding the detection radius of ‘Skill: Hatchling Synchro’ to search for artifacts left behind by the pyromancer.]
Grey Geng, the only one who used fire among the Geng Gang.
Theo thought it might be possible to glean an understanding of fire magic by reading his memories.
Fortunately, the location where the Geng Gang was wiped out was not far off. The only problem was that it was in the middle of a hoard of skeleton soldiers.
“But I still need to try my best.”
Wielding the Drake Blade and White Moonlight Blade in each hand, Theo leaped into the sky.
Fwoosh—
He sent the Death-bits ahead of him, turning them into lightning dragons and unleashing a heated breath.
Rumble! Crash—!
......
...
A few hours later…
Crackle, crackle!
A small ember kicked off a fire, quickly turning the entire jungle into a fiery inferno.
