Chapter 100 - Flash Yaksha (5)
While Wintera was in turmoil due to facing a potential war against the Troivan Clan, a new rumor started spreading.
“Theo Ragnar was presented with a half sword by the clan head.”
This was unlike being presented with a Single Strike. Being presented with a half sword meant he was given one of the swords in the Graveyard of Broken Swords.
The average person who didn’t know the full meaning of this simply assumed Kyle was especially fond of Theo. However, the elites—those who were combat swordsmen or higher—knew what this signified.
“Does the clan head really intend to change the Five Major Candidates into Six?”
It was a well-known fact that all of the major candidates, when they were first starting to rise to prominence, were summoned to the Graveyard of Broken Swords for a private meeting with Kyle.
It was only natural that people would pay attention to Theo receiving the same treatment. Because the winds of war were brewing, Theo’s name carried a heavier weight than it normally would.
“Is this how my big brothers and sisters felt when I first showed up?”
Thorkell Ragnar was one of those who were alerted by the latest news. Even though he was the youngest of the Five Major Candidates, he was growing his faction faster than the other major candidates because he was the invincible commander of the Black Iron Cavalry, a unit said to rival the might of the White-Armored Dragon Cavalry.
Despite that, Thorkell couldn’t let this rumor slide.
“What... are you thinking... while you have me in front of you...?!”
However, Thorkell’s thoughts were interrupted by the voice of a middle-aged man, all bloodied and worn out.
“Oh my. I forgot I had a guest. My apologies, sire. You were so boring, I momentarily forgot,” Thorkell openly mocked him.
The middle-aged man scowled, but he could not voice a protest. During their fight, he had failed to even scratch him. Thorkell was genuinely far above him.
“Why... are you doing this...?! Explain yourself...! We have shown absolute loyalty to the Ragnar Clan for hundreds of years, so why...?!” the middle-aged man shouted in anger.
He was none other than Evan Bacchus, the head of the Bacchus Clan.
An hour ago, the Black Iron Cavalry stormed in and quickly wiped out his clan.
“Have you not heard what happened with the Seres Merchant Guild?”
“Seres...?” Evan was confused. Why were his son’s future in-laws being brought up?
“You must be slow at getting the news. Seres was colluding with the Troivans to plan a coup. Your men tried to kill the enforcers dispatched to arrest and investigate them,” Thorkell scoffed at Evan’s pathetic demeanor.
Evan glared back, “Th-th-there must have been a mistake! We have no connections with the Seres Merchant Guild...!”
“If you are not connected, why did they raise their blades?”
“That’s—!”
“I see no point in continuing this discussion further,” Thorkell cut Evan off while pulling on his reins. The armored steed he was riding started neighing loudly.
Thorkell continued. “The Ragnar Clan has already come to a decision. For the long-standing loyalty of the Bacchus Clan, we will not wipe out the entire clan. The clan head Evan Bacchus and high-ranking members of the clan shall be arrested and brought to Wintera for a trial. Navan Bacchus shall be appointed as interim clan head.”
“......!” Evan’s eyes shook with fear.
“Make your decision. Will you accept judgment or continue to resist?”
Evan clenched his fist. He finally understood what was going on, but there was nothing he could do after getting entangled with charges of treason.
‘That illegitimate bastard is bringing an end to our storied clan...! I should have taken his head when I had the chance,’ Evan lowered his head, regretting the mistakes of his past.
“Close their aura halls and transport them to Wintera,” Thorkell ordered.
In the end, Evan and other important officials of the clan were dragged away and labeled as criminals.
“Ayan.”
“Yes, commander,” Ayan Sosoli, the vice-commander, nodded as she approached Thorkell.
“You said you took quite the liking to Theo Ragnar, didn’t you?”
“As I’ve said, sir, you’ll find his personality endearing. That kid's going places. It’s quite a shame we failed to recruit him.”
“Is that so? That’s very exciting,” Thorkell smirked as he lowered the visor of his helmet.
“Everyone, it’s time to return home!” he shouted and the march of the Black Iron Cavalry started shaking the ground.

Theo felt estranged by his reflection in the mirror.
“As expected of my dear son! You never fail to meet my expectations! You are so stunning it’s enchanting! Your average noble lady can’t even hold a candle to your beauty.”
Cecilia’s generous praise only made things more uncomfortable for Theo.
‘You think I’d have gotten used to it by now... But I really can’t.’
Theo was donning a formal suit. It was a deep navy blue that appeared as if cut from an ocean wave. Made of silk, the flashy design drew focus and further polished Theo’s pretty face.
These were clothes made for him by Cecilia during his absence.
‘How many suits have I tried on now...?’
He had tried on so many outfits that he had lost count.
“The ring and earrings you found are quite versatile. Their design is simple yet elegant, so they go along with most outfits. You said they’re artifacts, right?” Cecilia lightly grazed the accessories Theo was wearing with her fingertips.
They were the relics Theo took from the Seres Merchant Guild.
Theo nodded his head.
‘I’m glad these guys finally quieted down.’
After absorbing the black marble gifted to him by Kyle, Theo hadn’t left the house for a few days. He needed time to handle the ego drifting through his subconsciousness while closely examining the functions of his new relics.
During this time, he was able to properly check in on the changed condition of his body.
‘The greatest gain was obtaining a clue about aura,’ a smile of satisfaction grew on Theo’s lips.
Meanwhile, Cecilia rambled on while a maid next to her furiously took notes, “The details on the sleeve here are a bit lacking. I think the back stitching can go a little further back, and the lines here should go further apart like this...”
‘When will this end?’
Theo ended up trying on various outfits until he went through all but the final suit.
‘Finally...!’
With the hope of finally getting to rest, Theo donned the final suit jacket.
Slam!
The head butler barged into the dressing room unannounced.
“I have urgent news, ma’am!”
“What’s the matter?” Cecilia asked.
Both Cecilia and Theo’s gaze focused on the head butler.
The butler answered with his face pale from panic, “The Troivans have refused to answer our demands!”
The Ragnar Clan gave the Troivan Clan seventy-two hours to provide answers for the incidents related to Ed Troivan, yet they refused to cooperate.
That only signified one thing.
“...So war it is,” Theo mumbled to himself as a cold wind blew into the dressing room.

“Aren’t we going to war? How can they be so nonchalant like this?” Julius grumbled while looking around at his surroundings.

The greatest orchestra in the capital city was playing music while various men and women were either dancing or laughing at the tables set around the garden.
Lady Plum Blossom smiled next to him, “That’s exactly why we must be extra composed. Show them that we care not for their schemes. Demonstrate to the people of Wintera that we are not worried.”
The place they were gathered at was the Daffodil Palace, said to be the most beautiful among the many palaces in Rangar. The garden of the Daffodil Palace was booming with people, all dressed in elaborate outfits.
“Don’t you know how much Lady Daffodil adores her daughter? Originally, she was not meant to live beyond the age of ten, yet she’s now growing into a fine lady. She’s deserving of our blessing,” explained Lady Plum Blossom.
Though Julius nodded his head, he still looked a bit perturbed. This party was hosted by Lady Daffodil, Nele Ragnar Ton, to celebrate the fifteenth birthday of her only daughter, Ray Ragnar. The party was a large enough occasion that multiple of the Nine Dragons were in attendance.
Not only was Lady Daffodil one of the Nine Dragons herself, but she had placed a great meaning in this birthday of her daughter’s. It was unavoidable that many were in attendance.
In his younger days, Julius was a well-known playboy and loved gatherings like this. However, as he aged and matured, he came to find parties like this boring.
‘I don’t think Evelyn will be attending,’ thought Julius.
Knowing that he’d be bored alone, he told her to attend. However, knowing her personality, she was unlikely to come.
Another reason for Julius not to stay.
“But let’s be honest,” Lady Plum Blossom said while taking a sip of wine, “Most people aren’t here because they're interested in Lady Daffodil’s daughter.”
“...Ngh. That’s what I don’t like,” Julius grumbled.
For everyone present, the real focus of attention was none other than Theo Ragnar, the boy behind all the latest news in Wintera.
“It’s a shame I can’t trap him somewhere where no one will find him... Haah! I have no choice but to glue him to my side once he arrives,” Julius grumbled.
Lady Plum Blossom tilted her head in confusion, “What do you mean by that? Why should my son be glued to you? Theo will be by my side.”
“......?”
“Sorry, Commander Julius, but you will need to wait for the next opportunity. I already called dibs this time around.”
Julius looked baffled, “Dibs...? Did you already agree on that with Theo?”
“Does a mother and child need to make such promises ahead of time?”
“You’re not even his real mother—!”
However, as Julius was about to get up from his seat to protest...
Flap flap!
The powerful flapping of a bird was heard by both Julius and Osa.
Feeling a shiver down his spine, Julius raised his head to see the Black Dragon making a soft landing.
“My apologies to you both, but I will need some time with my nephew. I haven’t explained to him how to use the identification token I gave him.”
A small snicker could be heard from under the mask.
Julius scowled, “Is this what you were scheming when you gave him that?”
“I have no idea what you mean, Commander Julius.”
“Come on, big bro! Why do you keep doing this to me?”
“Don’t forget that we are in a formal gathering. I hope you can differentiate formal and personal matters, Commander Julius.”
“I agree with the intel director,” Osa chimed in.
“As expected of Lady Plum Blossom. You have better decorum.”
In an instant, Lady Plum Blossom and the Black Dragon had formed a truce as they exchanged glances.
“Grr... Seriously?!” Julius’s fist trembled at the feeling of being stabbed in the back.
“Entering Lady Cecilia and Theo Ragnar of the Camellia Palace!” the butler announced, and all three dragons shifted their gaze.
“......”
“......”
“......”
Dying in anticipation, the entire garden fell into silence as they all looked toward the entrance.
