Chapter 395

A third refinement of mana that had never existed in the world before.

The fusion between jet-black and divinity.

Void.

"This is impossible…!"

Silage felt his head throbbing just from looking at it.

A fusion of two extreme opposites, jet-black and divinity?! He'd sooner believe in the union of a demon and an angel.

It felt like centuries of pursuit for truth and knowledge was being completely denied and shattered by that power that didn't even exist.

As a necromancer, he constantly tried to analyze it, but the more he did, the more extreme the headaches and sense of emptiness that overtook his mind.

A blade.

He needed a blade.

If only he had a knife in his hand, he would have immediately driven it through his own head.

His forehead throbbed, his insides twisted, and drool rolled down his cheek. Just looking at it seemed to be driving him insane.

"This can't be!!"

He had to remove it from his sight immediately.

Responding to Silage's will, the reinforced blood zombies charged forward.

[Boy!]

"I'm fine, Pier."

Simon calmly stopped Pier and brought void in the shape of a sphere close to his chest.

Fwssshhh…

Then, the void enveloped Simon and shifted into the form of clothing.

A dark-blue cape, which seemed to be a reflection of the universe, gently wrapped around Simon's body as it fluttered in the cosmic wind.

Simon was now wearing the void.

[Guoooooooooooooh!]

Blood zombies charged, aiming to tear out Simon's throat, but…

Fwish.

Just getting close was an unforgivable crime. They turned into statues of black ash, collapsing into the sand below from even the lightest gust of wind.

Fwish!

Fwisshh!

Soon, the twenty zombies surrounding Simon turned to ashes and scattered into thin air.

Only silence remained.

It was as if nothing had been there in the first place.

"What the fuck is this?!"

Silage clapped his hands together loudly and thrust them forward.

Countless droplets of blood flew out, creating a chain of Blood Explosions big and small.

Step. Step.

And amidst the red explosion, Simon—clothed in void—walked through with an expressionless face. He didn't have a single scratch on him.

It was truly a power beyond the world's laws. Beyond any laws.

"!"

Silage looked down. His feet were being pulled toward Simon.

It wasn't just his feet. Blood droplets, rocks, fragments, and butchered corpses were all being drawn toward Simon.

'Gravity?'

The empty void was pulling everything around it as if yearning for matter. But nothing that was pulled in could touch Simon. It all turned to ashes and scattered.

All was being erased by Simon.

"This is troublesome."

Muttered Simon, touching the robe of void he was wearing. When he did, the gravity grew more selective. It no longer sucked in the surrounding sand, pebbles, air, and light.

But Silage was not given the same mercy.

Desperate, he concentrated jet-black in his legs, barely holding his ground.

"Kuuuuuuuuuuugh!!"

With bloodshot eyes, he raised his arms high.

The culmination of centuries of work was right before him.

The Apostle Resurrection plan was perfect.

No one, not even Nefthis, who was stuck fighting at the border of the Holy Federation, could have stopped him. Not even if she was in Kizen.

But…!

'A brat like this!!'

Rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrumble!

Silage moved his fingers and activated his specialty: bloodstone magic. Behind him, red gemstones began to stack up, forming a structure.

{Silage Original - Longinus}

Shatter!

The structure broke apart, and a refined spear of blood shot out, aimed at Simon.

The very dark magic that sealed the master of the dungeon with one strike.

However…

Swoop!

Even Longinus vanished as it was sucked into the void.

"…!"

Half a moment later, Silage felt something strong pass through him.

His head creaking as it moved, he slowly turned his head to the right.

A quarter of his upper torso was torn away, his exposed flesh and bone flooded with blood. And behind him, the spear he had fired at Simon was barreling away from him.

"Kughhh!!"

He staggered backward as his legs were pulled out from under him.

With his focus broken, the jet-black keeping his legs still had faded, and now gravity dragged him toward Simon again.

Simon was still walking, and the distance between them was closing.

"What kind of abomination are you?!"

Screamed Silage, both in effort and terror.

"How can such a power exist?!!!!"

Simon said nothing.

It wasn't a question worth answering.

'Dammit!'

Silage's survival instinct and ambition, cultivated over the many years, had at this point grown obsessive.

Bleeding profusely, he drew a magic circle on his body with that blood and activated it.

Ka-boo-boo-boo-booooom!

He activated a Blood Explosion in his own body.

Simon frowned and stopped walking.

Beyond the massive Blood Explosion, with a much smaller body, Silage was panting as he crawled on all fours. He was running away.

"Not yet! I haven't lost yet!"

And in front of him, the same crimson portal he had summoned the cultists from earlier now formed.

"The Apostle will rise again!"

Desperately screaming, Silage ran like a pitiful beast and went into the portal. Soon, the portal closed, and the cultists, still fighting the undead, looked bewildered.

"Th-The Archbishop ran away!"

"Don't tell me, did he abandon us?"

Thwack!

Knocking one of the cultists down with his fist, Prince frowned.

[Of course he did! I don't understand why you guys fall for those kinds of scammers!]

Beside him, Elizabeth was cupping her cheeks with her hands in ecstacy.

[…He's so cool!]

And behind her, cultists wrapped in spider webs hung like laundry.

Flap, flap, flaaaap!

From behind the two Ancient Undead talking, an undead with black wings descended from the sky.

[Akemus!]

In a display of monstrous strength, he was holding the third bishop, Anvante, by the neck.

"Kurrrgh!"

At some point, the tonfa that Anvante once boasted of were shattered.

[I have ruined his core. We should interrogate him to learn where Silage fled.]

A moment later, Prince burst into raucous laughter.

[Akemus is last! You were the slowest, Akemus! Learn from your seniors!]

[By the way, everyone…]

Elizabeth pointed at Simon,

[It looks like our Commander is doing something.]

Simon began to gather the void he had been wearing like a robe into his right hand.

Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

The surrounding air vibrated, and the sand swirled. The entire desert shook from the immense power.

[C-Commander?]

Simon's attack…

'I will find him. No matter what.'

It wasn't over yet.

He couldn't just let Silage escape like this.

Pushing his concentration to the limit, Simon closed his eyes. Darkness covered his vision, revealing the world of darkness, stars, and void that he was in with 'that figure'.

'I will find him!'

Simon was looking into another dimension beyond space and time. His vision spun wildly, and the surrounding universe pulsed with every beat of his heart.

The search didn't take long.

As his mind centered once more on his own location, he sifted through the cosmic dust and particles between him and his target until he finally reached a presence.

A precarious and ominous red dot in the darkness.

It was definitely Silage.

"Did you think you could escape?"

Simon raised both hands, his eyes still closed. The void, which had taken the form of clothing, quickly transformed into Simon's main weapon. A greatsword.

In this state, fully aware of Silage's presence…

'Slash him!'

In the territory of the Shahed Kingdom.

The Dark Territory HQ of Heavenly Blood.

Very few knew that this stronghold of evil was in the Shahed Kingdom.

To the average person, the stronghold appeared to be a barren land where even farming was impossible. But in reality, the entire HQ was concealed by a barrier created by the secret arts of Heavenly Blood.

This structure, tubes intricately intertwined with it, was Heavenly Blood's research facility. The screams of experiment subjects and monsters echoed throughout, proof of the horrific deeds taking place.

And in this place…

Whirrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

A crimson portal opened, a blood-soaked naked man tumbled out of it.

"Kuhugh! Cough! Cough!"

As soon as he came out of the portal, he vomited a stream of lumps of blood from his mouth.

"There's an infiltrator!"

A portal opening inside the HQ was immediately reported. Researchers of Heavenly Blood dressed in white coats quickly gathered.

"Wh-Who's that beggar?"

"Archbishop Silage!"

Clamor! Clamor! Clamor!

The researchers were shocked. Silage was in a haggard and pathetic state.

It was hard to believe that this was the man who had lived for hundreds of years and established the very foundations of Heavenly Blood.

At that moment, the most senior researcher quickly rushed to his front.

"Why have you returned? You said you'd open the blood portal when the Apostle's resurrection is—?!"

"The Elder! Where is the Elder!"

Shouted Silage as if nothing else mattered.

“P-Pardon? The elder hasn't been to the HQ for more than two years now.”

"Damn it!!"

Silage stood up as blood dripped from his mouth.

"We need to prepare countermeasures immediately!!"

"What?"

"I saw it with my own eyes! Jet-black and divinity! I'm telling you, jet-black and divinity!"

The researchers looked puzzled at the archbishop's almost deranged outcry.

"Wh-What about jet-black and divi—?!"

Grab!

Silage clutched the senior researcher's shoulders and thrust his face close.

"He merged them!!"

Blood droplets splattered from his mouth onto the senior researcher's face. Frightened, the researcher struggled against the strong grip.

"Ugh! Wh-What's wrong with you!"

"I said he merged them! Those two opposites!!"

"P-Please let me go!"

Thwack!

Shove!

Silage pushed the researcher aside and started running.

He kept running.

What happened in the desert was hard to believe, but it was real.

Now that this monster had become an enemy of Heavenly Blood, measures had to be taken and quickly.

Thud!

Bursting through the doors of the HQ's lab, Silage froze.

"Archbishop!"

Other researchers hurriedly followed behind him.

"Oh!"

"The sky is…!"

Crack…

Crack…

A crack was forming in the sky. A dark-blue glow enveloped the entire space.

Silage's face went deathly pale. Materials and parts of the lab started floating in the air due to the intense gravity.

That dark-blue power is unmistakable…!

[Did you think you could escape?]

Silage stumbled and fell at the thunderous voice that seemed to speak directly into his mind.

"Ah… Ahhhh…! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!"

"Archbishop!"

The researchers hurriedly gathered around him.

"Hide me! I said, hide me!"

As Silage desperately struggled…

In that very moment…

Swish!

Simon, still in the world of sand, was transforming void into a greatsword that looked to be impossibly long.

'No matter where you are or where you run, it doesn't matter.'

The surrounding air trembled, and the nighttime sand swirled. The immense power caused the entire space to vibrate.

Now aware of Silage's location, Simon prepared to swing the greatsword made from void, pulling it behind him into the proper stance.

The space was distorted, centering on him.

[The sensation of…]

His waist turned, and his arms moved. Feeling the heavy weight of the sword driven by centrifugal force, he poured all his strength and will into the swing.

[…slashing the dimension itself!!]

Slaaaaaaaaaasssssssssshhhhhhhhhh!

The greatsword made of void swung, leaving a long trace in the empty space. It was like a galaxy was formed in the perfect arc.

And that slash precisely…

"!"

Went across the continent.

Into the territory of the Shahed Kingdom, and…

Finally, it struck.

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom!

It tore through the entire Heavenly Blood HQ.

"Ah…!"

As if he couldn't believe it, Silage's eyes widened as he saw the slash thundering toward his throat.

Slice!

The last thing he saw was the dark-blue sword slash of void. It was as if it cleaved through the world itself.

Thunk!

Lowering the void weapon, Simon wiped his mouth with his sleeve and at last opened his eyes.

'I told you, it doesn't matter where you are.'

A giant dimensional scar was left in the desert sky.
