Chapter 31
Youngsu's asked, his expression serious, "Can we be the ones to take care of the soldiers and gamblers?"
"Why?" Shi-hu returned.
"We're thinking of using people connected to the Salvation Guild to replace the soldiers in said positions. As for the gamblers, they're scattered across the country. It'll be quite time consuming for you to handle it, Mr. Shi-hu. Not to mention, it’ll be a hassle. Besides, this concerns Master Jin. I want to help."
Shi-hu scratched his chin, sensing that Youngsu's mind only had room for the Salvation Guild.
"I don't see a reason to refuse your help," he conceded. “But I'll handle Mr. National Guild."
"I will send you the address." Youngsu glanced around briefly, tapped his watch, and announced, "I will be going then. I have a lot to catch up on."
"Sure. See you next time."
Before leaving, Youngsu should have asked how Shi-hu planned to handle the situation.
However, he didn't. The reason was simple. He assumed Shi-hu would resolve it 'reasonably'.
Even if force was necessary, Youngsu figured only a few people in charge would die at best.
He was dead wrong.

The taxi came to a stop.
"That'll be $38, sir," the driver stated.
I thought I misheard. "$38?"
"Yes."
I peered out the window. "Seoul, Dongdaemun District, Jangan Town 480-1, are you sure this is the right place?"
"Sir, I haven't been driving for just a day or two. Look out this window, not that one. It's right next to us, Mr. National Capital. Isn't that where you wanted to go?"
"Yes, but isn't it too expensive? You didn't tamper with the meter, did you?"
"Tamper with the meter? What year do you think it is? Did you come from the mountains or something?"
I scratched my head. I knew prices had gone up, but I hadn't realized taxi fares had also increased so drastically. The world had truly changed in ten years.
I paid with my card and stepped out of the taxi. As I was about to enter the building, I knocked on the driver's window.
"Excuse me, Mr. Driver."
The window rolled down. The bearded taxi driver asked, puzzled, "What is it?"
"I'll be back in about twenty minutes. Can you wait for me?"
"Twenty minutes? That's a bit long."
"I'll pay triple."
The taxi driver grinned. "Oh my my my. Aren’t you a decent young man? Twenty minutes? I can even wait thirty. Go ahead and do your thing."
I smiled and turned towards the building. It was four stories high, surrounded by villas and studios.
I checked my watch.
[010-2222-7777]
Then I dialed the number.
The phone rang three times. Exactly three times before the call connected.
"Well, well. Look who it is. I was surprised to see your number pop up,” the man answered.
I focused my ears. I could hear the same voice coming from the watch at the top of this building. I was certain that he was inside.
“You didn’t think the debt disappeared simply because Mr. Jin Tae-seob died, right?"
"Uh, I was thinking that. But I guess that's not going to work?"
"…Wow, I heard you had been hospitalized, but it must have been because of your mental faculties. Dear, beloved author. Let's skip the intro and cut to the chase. Jin Tae-seob borrowed eight million, eight hundred thirty-four thousand, eight hundred twenty dollars. I'll be generous and round it down to $8.8 million for you. So, when are you going to pay this all back?"
"That's a lot. Too much, in fact."
"Don't act so surprised. I’ll ask again. When are you going to pay it back?"
"Well, I have a question. Are you sure I have to pay it back?"
"Of course you do. Did you forget about the joint and several guarantee?"
"I've been a little out of it these days. I don’t really want to pay. Do I really have to?”
"If you don't, we'll have to settle this with the law. Or you can go to your sister and get it from her. There are plenty of ways for us to get what we are owed. I have your signature right here."
"Oh, you do?"
"Yes, I do. Why are you acting like this when you signed it yourself? Stop trying to be a smart aleck and just pay up. Let's make this clean and simple, dear customer. By the way…"
I could hear laughter from the other side.
"Why are you suddenly speaking so casually? Since when were we friends?" the man asked.
His words prompted laughter from me. "I don’t remember making a friend like you."
"That's what I mean, you little shit. Why are you talking so disrespectfully?"
I never got a good education, so I struggled to beat around the bush with words.
So, I got straight to the point. "I'm only going to say this once. Forget about the money, forget about everything. Pretend none of this ever happened. Capiche?"
A string of curses was shouted through the phone, "Did you lose your marbles, you stupid little shit?! How dare a debtor tell a creditor what to do! You motherfucking son of a whore…!"
The man on the other end had quite a potty mouth.
"You sure you won't regret this?"
"Ha! I've been too nice to you, haven't I? You think you can get away with this because of Jin Song-yi? You little punk, you don't know anything about the world—"
I hung up. I must have pressed the 'End Call' button in the heat of the moment, but more importantly, I gave him enough chances.
I walked towards the commercial building and entered. A man in a suit stood before me.
"What business brings you here… Shi-hu?" the man stammered, momentarily tilting his head before bursting into laughter. "You must be here to pay off your debt, I see. Come on in. Let me get the elevator for—”
He couldn't finish his sentence. My hand was gripping his face.
I squeezed. And then…
Splat!
The man's head exploded, showering the surroundings with blood and brain matter.
The other men in suits shouted in alarm.
"What the! Who are you?!"
"You bastard, which gang are you from…?"
Their continuous yelling was hurting my ears. Of course, it didn't actually hurt. It was just a figure of speech.
A man charged at me, swinging a sword. I reached out, caught the blade, and squeezed again.
The sword snapped in half.
I swung my foot.
Crack!!
With a deafening sound, the man's body literally snapped in half. Blood gushed from all of his orifices, his eyes bulging out.
As my foot made contact, I had released a surge of mana.
That mana ripped through the man's insides.
Thud
The corpse collapsed.
I stepped over the body and approached the remaining men, who stood frozen in fear.
They stumbled backward, but it was pointless.
I flicked my finger. The mana I gathered at my fingertip shot out.
There were exactly eight men left.
The bullet-shaped mana I flicked moved with a life of its own, piercing through the heads of all eight men one by one.
Quick side note, but there were no other businesses, like shops or cafes, in this building. It was all Mr. National Capping, or whatever they called themselves.
I looked up and saw signs that read 'Loan Team 1', 'Loan Team 2'.
The door to Loan Team 2 burst open. A man looked towards my direction and his knees buckled on the spot.
His voice trembled as he asked, "…Who… who are you? Why are you attacking our Mr. National Guild?"
"Me?"
How should I introduce myself?
I thought for a moment, but nothing came to mind. There was no need for introductions.
I was going to kill them all anyway. What was the point?
So I continued walking. I approached the fallen man and kicked him in the head.
Splat!
Blood and bone fragments splattered against the wall.
I quickly glanced around.
On the first floor, there were eleven dead and three in hiding.
I looked to my side. There was a wall there, but I sensed a presence behind it. Without hesitation, I swung my right hand.
Smash!!
Splat!!
The wall crumbled, revealing a blood-covered man who collapsed onto the floor. Whether he was listening or hiding, it didn't matter now. A quick glance confirmed that he was most definitely dead.
I bent down and picked up a sword that had fallen to the floor. I then thrust it into the wall next to me.
Shnnk!
It plunged in smoothly, as if into tofu. I pulled the sword out, the blade dripping with blood.
"Interesting trick," I muttered.
It seemed there was a guy who had a skill or something that allowed them to hide in walls.
The remaining one was also hiding in a wall. As I was about to walk towards him…
"W-wait!"
Someone jumped out from the wall. It was a woman, and she looked quite young. At most twenty?
However, she reeked of an unmistakable stench of blood.
I could bet his life on it. This woman had killed at least five or six people between yesterday and today.
"I… I'll leave Mr. National Guild. Please, just let me live," she pleaded.
I stared at her.
"…Why… why are you looking at me like that?" she asked, trembling in fear.
"Just because."
I then tossed the sword.
Pshnk—!
The sword embedded into her head, and she collapsed.
I walked back to the elevator and pressed the button.
Perhaps because it was already on the first floor, the door opened immediately.
I stepped inside and pressed the button for the second floor without hesitation.

The man watching the CCTV gulped. "What the…?!"
He couldn't comprehend the situation unfolding on the screen. It was astonishing, but it wasn't just his strength that was shocking.
South Korea was called a security camera paradise, so it was unimaginable for someone to be going on a bold rampage like this.
Everyone on the first floor was dead. There was no hesitation in his actions, and he was terrifyingly strong.
Every time he swung his hand, heads exploded, and limbs were torn apart. The way he killed those hiding in the walls with his sword was just unbelievable.
'This is Shi-hu…?' the man wondered.
Jin Shi-hu was known to the world as a third-rate author and a leech clinging to Jin Song-yi's side.
'Isn’t this too much…?'
He had already reported it to his superiors.
Currently, the second floor was being wiped out.
The man watched in a daze as Shi-hu continued his rampage. To be honest, if it were any other place, he wouldn't be so sure—but this place was safe.
After all, it was underground.
Shi-hu, on the screen, let go of the sword he was holding.
The sword didn't fall to the ground. It stopped mid-air. The sword, as if it had a life of its own, gently positioned itself horizontally.
Shi-hu flicked the sword with his finger. As if possessed, the sword zipped around, killing every single Mr. National Guild member on the second floor.
"The fuck…?!"
"Shouldn't we run away?"
"Just stay quiet. He doesn't seem to know we're here yet."
There were two men watching the security cams. These two felt safe for now.
They weren't on the scene, and they had zero intentions of being there. They just had to wait for the right moment to escape.
Shi-hu went up to the third floor. The Mr. National Guild members were prepared, but it was pointless.
Shi-hu killed them all without saying a word.
The flying sword played a big part. It had killed over twenty people in an instant.
The man in the basement let out a sigh of relief.
‘I won't die like that,’ he thought. ‘I'll escape when Shi-hu reaches the fourth floor.’
Little did he know that this would be his last thought.
Shi-hu's sword plunged downward.
At the same time, it pierced through the head of his colleague, who was watching the security footage with him.
"Wh-what the…?!" The man cried out in shock, but it was too late.
The sword shot towards his neck.
Slash!
The heads of the two men rolled on the ground, as the two spectators met their end.
