Chapter 182: Eyes of Judgment

“Amazing!”

While I was taking a short break, Kwon Soyi suddenly let out a loud shriek from a distance. “N-No way. Isn't that Thundercry? I swear I saw her on TV!”

She must have noticed the three hunters approaching from the entrance.

Capu the Guide. Maximilian the Absolute Peerless. Floa the Thundercry.

I had already heard through the chat that they had joined the Demir’s Workshop.

Kinda unexpected.

Especially in Floa’s case, I had been saving her as a last resort, expecting it to be a one-time favor.

Yet here she was, voluntarily offering to help. It was… surprising.

“Oh my god, I'm a huge fan of Thundercry!” Kwon Soyi was visibly flustered.

The Druid—a guardian of the forest, wielding magic rooted in the life force of the earth itself.

“I can’t believe one of the supports is Thundercry herself!”

I had fully explained the situation to her and Im Sujin. They now knew about Gotham and just how dangerous those people were. I even told them they could leave if they wanted, but they insisted on staying. Apparently, they thought this would be a great opportunity to build experience.

"Hey, you!"

Crackle!

The moment Floa spotted me, electricity crackled around her as she charged forward at full speed.

“Long time no see, huh?”

Boom!

Her fist shot toward me like a thunderbolt. It was almost like she was getting revenge for not being able to punch me during the trial.

I frowned slightly. “That’s a rough way to say hello.”

Floa was the only person I spoke informally to. At this point, her antics just felt familiar.

Fwoosh!

I slammed my godslayer staff into the ground.

—Rumble!

And at that moment, four skeletons emerged from the earth.

"Sunny, Eldrin, Kaden, Dana."

Given the situation, I even called Eldrin. No way in hell was I losing to this girl.

“Oh?! Now we’re talking!”

As Floa closed the distance, I shifted my weapon into spear mode.

Thud!

And at the same time, Kaden planted his Behemoth Bone Shield into the ground. Behind him, Dana took position.

Sprint!

Eldrin and Sunny dashed to the left and right. As for me…

Shhh…

I disappeared into the shadows.

“What the—?!”

All that remained in front of Floa was Kaden’s massive shield. She couldn't slow down in time. And at that very moment…

Fwoosh!

Sunny’s Solar Strike shot out from the left.

Ting-ting-ting!

Eldrin’s Advanced Rapid Fire rained down arrows from the right.

“H-Huh? Wait, hold on—”

Sorry, but my children aren’t just skeletons. They had all been absolute beings of entire other worlds. And now they could use up to 50% of their original power. Not only that, they were made of dragon bones, meaning they were insanely tough.

However…

“No need to hold back. She won't die from this.”

“As you command, my lord.”

Fwoosh! Fwoosh!

Sunny thrust his spear at Floa.

Boom!

She crashed into Kaden’s shield at full speed. It was like watching an electric monster headbutt a wall of stone.

“Ugh?!”

Kaden let out a strained grunt, and Dana immediately cast a healing spell over him.

“H-Hey, this is unfair! This is just a beatdown!”

“Then maybe don’t charge in headfirst?”

Shhh!

I appeared behind her, my spear pointed at her neck.

That makes it 2-0, huh?

“…”

She probably could’ve kept fighting, but neither of us really wanted to go all out. Just like how I didn’t use Dana’s three-second invincibility, Radiance, or any of my buffs, she also held back. After all, this was just a friendly greeting.

“…Holy crap!” Kwon Soyi, who had been watching, was utterly shocked. "That… That all happened in just five seconds?! Is this what combat at the highest level looks like?!"

At least she was handling it well.

“…”

On the other hand, Im Sujin was completely tensed up, gulping nervously. Even Maxi instinctively drew his sword halfway in alarm. Gi Soyul had already drawn her daggers, her killing intent flooding the air.

Flustered, I de-escalated the situation as quickly as possible. “Hey. You’re scaring people.”

Shhh.

I pulled back my spear with a sigh.

“Ahaha, sorry! I got too excited since it’s been so long!” Floa finally calmed down, dispersing her crackling electricity.

Fwoo.

She really did remind me of an electric eel sometimes.

"But you gotta understand! When else am I ever gonna get to attack you? Your level’s gonna skyrocket again soon anyway, hahaha!" She scratched her head, laughing boisterously.

"Haah." I let out a sigh and gathered the hunters in one place.

There were plenty of new faces, so it was time to introduce everyone properly.

[Space Mage: Uh, Leader?]

[Space Mage: Can I bring the Aetham members too?]

[Space Mage: We’ve got rankers and skilled hunters. They’ll be useful in the war.]

[Skeleton King: Who am I to say no? I’m sure everyone has plenty of grudges to settle. Bring whoever wants to fight.]

As Floa, Capu, and Maximilian began gathering around, the other rankers began to arrive.

“I’m here. Thankfully, the Japanese Association let me through without any trouble.”

First, Myoi Hana arrived.

“Hey, Hoon! I made it, too! Let’s teach those scoundrels a lesson!”

Shortly after, Olena appeared. She had apparently run into Zhang Wei at the airport. The two of them entered together, looking like old friends.

Whoosh!

The Spear of Judgment extended his weapon, pointing it downward. “…They cannot go unpunished.”

He was the same as ever. The tip of his spear gleamed dangerously as if demanding the villains to come forth.

“A mafia organization that overthrew an entire country… My spear is shaking with rage.” His eyes glowed with murderous intent.

And then…

“Uwaaaaah!”

“Woaaaahhh!”

A massive roar erupted from afar. It was the kind of sound that thousands of people would have to scream together to produce.

He’s here.

The citizens who had suffered through an deposed government—those who had been forced into joining the mafia just to survive—the Russian hunters came surging in like a tidal wave.

Shhh!

Through spatial magic, a familiar figure appeared before me.

“Yo, Leader…” Vladimir looked at me, his expression a mix of relief, gratitude, and sorrow.

I shook my head. “If you’re about to say thank you, don’t bother. I’ll make sure to collect my debt later.”

Just looking at his face, I could tell how much pain he was in. There was no need for empty words.

Shhh! Shhh!

Behind Vladimir, three figures emerged. One was stocky and well-fed while the other two had gold and silver hair respectively, like siblings.

These guys…

The "brothers" Vladimir had told me about—the ones he suspected might be traitors.

“Greetings, sir!”

“It is an honor to meet our boss’s friend!”

Oh, wow.

I barely held back a laugh.

Vladimir must be going through hell.

At this point, I had gained enough experience to see it instantly.

It’s all three of them.

Their shifty eyes were filled with unease, giving off the scent of betrayal. Perhaps thanks to my sensory restriction training, I had become better at reading people.

There was the saying, "A seasoned adult can tell just by looking." That was exactly how I felt. But I had to wonder why Vladimir hadn’t noticed it.

No, of course he noticed.

He just didn’t want to believe it. Like a person refusing to accept their lover is cheating on them.

"You guys…"

However, the Spear of Judgment wasn’t about to let them go.

Whoosh!

Zhang Wei aimed his spear at the three men. "You were directly involved in a massacre, weren’t you?"

"…!"

Vladimir’s shoulders shook.

"Wh-What are you talking about?"

"Sir, what do you mean?!"

"W-We just met you! How can you accuse us of a massacre?!"

Of course, the three of them vehemently denied it.

"Lies." The Spear of Judgment’s eyes narrowed. "Your deception is pathetic. For spies, you’re terrible actors."

"…"

Step.

That was when Vladimir quietly walked toward Zhang Wei with his back to the three men. His closed eyelids trembled as if he was barely holding back his emotions.

So he already expected this, huh?

"B-Boss?"

"Why are you reacting like that?"

"Spies?! What are you talking about?! How could we possibly have the power to commit a massacre?!"

Hic!

At that moment, one of them hiccupped.

Gasp!

Another one held his breath, trying to stay calm.

"…"

"…"

Because they had just realized that thousands of Aetham’s hunters were staring at them.

"E-Eep! Wh-Why are there so many hunters?!"

"We really don’t know anything! Please, you have to believe us!"

They kept denying it, but the Spear of Judgment didn’t stop.

Whoosh!

Instead, he looked around at the thousands of gathered hunters, then pointed his spear at more people.

"You. You. And you." He picked them out like a fishmonger at a seafood market.

Damn. Could all of them be spies?

The selected ones looked around, confused as if asking why they were chosen.

Hm.

I was impressed. Sure, I could tell about the three of them from experience, but how was he picking out the rest? Wasn’t the Spear of Judgment’s skill only supposed to reveal killers and their motives? Could it detect spies, too?

[Spear of Judgment: Come to think of it, I haven’t told you about this yet.]

[Spear of Judgment: Just like Capu, I upgraded my Eyes of Judgment skill to SS-rank.]

[Spear of Judgment: Originally, it only showed how many people someone had killed and why.]

[Spear of Judgment: But now, it can detect intent and participation—even if they didn’t kill anyone themselves.]

[Spear of Judgment: It’s an extremely satisfying skill.]

Holy crap.

What kind of broken ability was that? It was basically pre-crime prevention!

And more than that, he used an SS-rank skill box just to upgrade Eyes of Judgment?

That was insane. For me, that would be unthinkable. The Spear of Judgment truly was a man obsessed with justice.

[Water Witch: Wow…]

[Absolute Peerless: You’re telling me you prioritized that over your ranking? Is judging villains really more important to you?]

[Spring Apostle: This is beyond all expectations.]

[Water Witch: I can’t even think bad thoughts near the Spear of Judgment anymore. Can he read minds too?]

[Spear of Judgment: Unfortunately no.]

Hey! What do you mean “unfortunately”?!

Anyway, thanks to the Spear of Judgment’s insane ability, things were going smoothly.

One by one… Then ten, twenty, thirty…

“N-No!”

“What the…?!”

The faces of those who were caught turned pale and blue.

Why were they so shocked?

Because they know.

The Spear of Judgment pinpointed their identities so accurately that it became undeniable proof. Even if many didn’t understand, some of the infiltrators among the crowd were bound to recognize each other. Sensing what was happening, the members of Aetham pushed them toward the center.

“…So you were a traitor too?”

“You… you filthy bastards. Not only is being a villain not enough for you, but now you want to torment struggling citizens just to save your own skin?”

“You scumbags! No wonder you follow the Insect King.”

Before long, the atmosphere was filled with pure malice. At the center, a total of fifty hunters were gathered.

Fifty out of thousands, huh…

Was that a lot or a little?

[Space Mage: Thank you, Spear of Judgment.]

At that moment, Vladimir, who silently had his eyes closed, finally opened them.

[Space Mage: I’ll handle the rest from here.]

Crack!

His teeth ground together loudly.

[Space Mage: Before we start the real battle… we need to exterminate the bugs.]
