Chapter 226

Back when HaYoon was five years old…

The Winter Witch, Luisa, who’d turned all those who challenged her into everlasting ice statues, the rank 7 boss, the Wicked Witch, Laplace, who’d brought death to the entire continent, and … the Dream Witch, the master of unbreakable dreams, Morgana…

Five-year-old HaYoon watched a memory of a knight. 'It’s a scene from my past life.'

[How could you use magic in such a way?! You and your sisters are really…!] The knight cried out.

[How brave. Aren't you afraid of death?] Morgana slowly approached the knight, placed a hand on his forehead, and said, [Death is merciful. My dream world isn't. If you wander in an unbreakable dream for 300 years… no, just for about 100 years…]

Swoosh—

The knight was terrified.

Morgana continued to speak. [That’ll be long enough for you to beg for forgiveness and plead for death. See? Your so-called ‘noble values’ are only temporary. The only eternal thing is power.]

Morgana’s pink mana shot out as if it were a bullet and struck the knight on the forehead. The knight's eyes closed as if he were falling into a dream, and Morgana laughed out loud in amusement.

Bang—!

'I'm both HaYoon and the Dream Witch, Morgana?' Five-year-old HaYoon was flooded with a huge amount of information that far exceeded her life to that point. After the process ended, she found that she had all the memories and knowledge of the Dream Witch, Morgana.

'I know how to manipulate mana, where it comes from, and the secret to it… I know everything now, so…’ As a little girl, she’d resolved to regain her power as the Dream Witch. She might’ve just been human, but she still knew how to start. 'I'll regain my powers first.'

Both the girl, HaYoon, and the Dream Witch, Morgana, held the same desire for power. To regain that power, though, she needed to change the nature of her mana, which meant she’d need over a dozen specific artifacts.

Thus, five-year-old HaYoon simply bided her time and waited for the day she could fully control her innate Telekinesis and change the nature of her mana to match Morgana’s.

The fragment of Laplace, a witch regarded as Morgana’s sister, appearing in front of her within Sumire changed everything. How could she not be happy to be reunited with her sister after transcending space and time?

"Spatial Control, Plague Land." Laplace’s fragment extended Sumire’s hands, and the bathroom changed—the marble floor morphed into earthy soil reeking of death while the mansion around them vanished without a trace.

"Not bad for a fake…" HaYoon muttered. Laplace using her Plague Land meant she was ready to give it her all.

WHOOM—!

A giant hand emerged from the ground and struck HaYoon at incredible speed.

Bang! Zz- Zzzt—!

HaYoon blocked the hand with her Telekinesis. "Crumple," she commanded, and the hand crumbled like paper. "Keep these toys to yourself!" she yelled before throwing the crumbling arm back toward Laplace.

"Reaper's Scythe," Laplace muttered, summoning a cloaked skeleton that sliced the arm with its scythe before moving to attack HaYoon. "You seem to know quite a lot about me. You… Did you get a witch's fragment as well?"

"Who knows?” HaYoon asked. “What do you think?" HaYoon caught the approaching reaper's scythe with her Telekinesis.

"How strange…” Laplace said. “I can't feel anyone's presence in your mana…" She wasn’t just talking about mana. The girl she saw in front of her didn’t look, fight, or have the mana nature of any witch she knew.

"That's right,” HaYoon explained. “I've been reborn. You, on the other hand, didn't even bring out your throne or wear your crown… I guess this is all a fake can amount to.” She smiled and twirled her index finger.

Whir—

The air only slightly stirred at first, but the gentle breeze swirled into a howling gale that intensified into a hurricane, threatening to swallow everything except for its caster, HaYoon.

Whir—!

The hurricane grew, uprooted the trees within the Plague Land, and even tore up sections of the ground. At the same time, HaYoon used her Telekinesis to rip apart the undead emerging from the ground. Despite the intensity of the storm, Laplace didn’t move an inch—it was merely a war of attrition.

'Using spatial control, the throne, and the crown simultaneously is still too much for her… This child can't handle it yet,' Laplace thought. Sumire’s body simply couldn’t contain that much power yet. Meanwhile, though HaYoon didn’t have a witch’s power, her hunter abilities were several times greater than Sumire’s.

Maybe it was only natural that their fight resulted in a standstill since HaYoon held a witch’s memories while Sumire held a witch’s fragment.

'It seems that you still can't accept my full power. Just how frail are you…?' Laplace withdrew her spatial control, and the Plague Land shattered like fragments of glass. A moment later, they were back in the bathroom, which was as calm as ever and made everything that happened mere moments before seem like a dream.

There were two noticeable differences, though—the grim reaper’s scythe paused mere millimeters from HaYoon’s neck, and a green light flickered around Laplace’s throat.

"That was fun… How about we call it a day?" HaYoon smiled and proposed a truce. Eventually, Laplace withdrew her scythe, and HaYoon released her telekinetic hold. "You're welcome to join the meeting,” she said. “I'd like to get along with someone as strong as you." A moment later, HaYoon gracefully made her exit.

Laplace intensely watched the girl leave. "Haa…" Sumire was strong, but HaYoon was on a different level. If she hadn’t intervened, then Sumire would have certainly lost. "My child, you still have a long way to go."

Sumire's pupils, which looked like diamonds, slowly became round again. "Ah…" Laplace's mind retreated into the inner world to rest, and Sumire's consciousness returned.

EunAh sprawled on the sofa in Gaon’s club room, yawning. 'It's been a while since I had such a boring weekend.' She hadn’t returned to the mansion like she usually did, and she couldn’t go shopping since she’d given up her black card. ‘YuSung isn’t even here.’ She was, predictably, in a bad mood.

"Kyahang~ Baby dragon~ Tururu~" At least she had Velvet, who was singing a nursery rhyme and playing by her side.

'I wonder how she's getting more and more used to the Pocket…' She was worried that Velvet’s eyes would be harmed if she watched the Pocket’s screen too closely. 'Wait…' EunAh had never heard of a dragon with poor eyesight. 'Maybe it doesn't matter because she's a dragon.'

Meanwhile…

"Crazy…" Velvet mumbled to herself while looking at the Pocket.

"Mommy EunAh! Look, look at this!"

[Golden battered!]

[Each one with four legs!]

[Buy me, buy me, quadrupedal chicken!]

It just looked like a normal advertisement.

"You want to eat this…?" EunAh asked.

"Yes! A lot!"

"Hmm…"

EunAh checked her balance.

[Total Checkings Balance: 0 USD]

She’d never made a deposit, so of course she didn’t have any money available. She couldn’t even afford a bottle of water, let alone a food delivery. "Hey, instead of that… How about tomatoes and potatoes?"

Velvet was a dragon to her core, so she favored meat. "Uhm… tomatoes… and potatoes?" Still, she was too kind to protest. "Yes, it's okay. I’m okay with anything that Mommy EunAh makes…"

EunAh scratched her head in thought when she saw Velvet’s clear disappointment. "Or should I cook for you?"

Velvet immediately shook her head. "Eh… I’m full!"

It was an unimaginable humiliation for her. She used to be able to spend as much as she wanted, and then she couldn’t even treat Velvet to some delivery food. "If only I had my black card…" she muttered in frustration.

"Kyahang? A card?” Velvet asked. “What's that?"

"A card is something thin and square-shaped. You can buy anything with it."

Velvet waddled over to where the toys were and rummaged around before walking back toward EunAh with something in her hand. She yawned and showed her what it was—a card that looked exactly as EunAh had described. It was square, thin, and black…

'It’s black?’ EunAh checked the back and saw none other than her own signature.

[KimSilverA]

"Where did you get this?!" she asked in astonishment.

Velvet proudly replied, "Dad gave it to me! He said to use it with you if we needed it!"

"What? YuSung gave it to you?!" It was the same black card she’d used since she was a child. It seemed he’d reluctantly accepted it after her family pressured him.

'I bragged so loudly about being independent…' EunAh still had her pride, so she didn’t want to use it after she’d proudly told her family she didn’t need them. 'Hmm…'

Paf—

A mini version of herself dressed as the devil whispered sweet words in her ear.

- It isn't a lot of money, so why not use it? You can repay it later, right?

EunAh glanced at Velvet, who was singing along to the commercial’s tune again. It did seem like she wanted that chicken…

"Buy me~ buy me~ ♪ Quadrupedal chicken~ ♬"

'Velvet wants to eat it so much…'

Paf—

Next, a mini version of herself wearing an angel's clothes appeared.

- This isn't for yourself. It’s for Velvet, right? It's okay to spend a little

Wait, why were both the angel and the devil trying to convince her? 'Right, if it's for Velvet…' A relaxed smile crept onto her face. 'This sensation… Has it been a week?' She placed an order for chicken and finally escaped the humiliation of being broke.

[Your order has been sent.]

It was time to return to being ‘KimSilverA’.
