Chapter 266

It was the third time humanity had encountered the World Tree’s elves in the Space League, and the identifier they saw that time was ‘99’.

- It’s 99 this time?

- 71, 200, 99. The numbers are quite diverse, lol.

- Woah. The two teams above us are World Tree's elves. Number 71, which lost to us, is in 7th place. These new ones are ranked quite high.

The World Tree's elves marked as ‘200’ were in 1st place, and the new ‘99’ species was placed 2nd. Of course, they were in the highest tier.

- The 1st and 2nd-place species have similar amounts of points. I wouldn't be surprised if their ranks changed at any time.

- Eh, but the ones who are ranked 3rd have a very similar score. Could they also be World Tree's elves?

- Wouldn't that be too much? Those damn elves are freaking strong…

Although humanity had won their first match against the World Tree's elves, most viewers knew it wasn't because humanity had done well. The elves deliberately avoided using their cards and just played around, intending to execute the human players. If the match had been conducted without such trickery, humanity would have lost.

'There are, in total, five teams of elves from the World Tree… If humanity is ranked 4th, the elves probably had matches among themselves.' JiHan looked at the rankings while thinking of how things had been before his regression.

Back then, while humanity was at the bottom, competing with the urks over who would be placed lowest, the World Tree's elves, from the 1st to the 5th, each had four losses because they arranged an even win-loss rate when placed against each other.

The red-headed dragonkin, which were ranked 6th, had lost only against the elves, so they had 10 losses total.

'If I compare it to the rankings back then, our current ranking seems like a miracle.' The elves and the dragons had been at the top, and there was a huge difference between them and the other species. Things had changed though, and humanity had a victory against both.

'Still, we shouldn't be satisfied with the current ranking. We have to continue to do well, get promoted from the Bronze League, and free ourselves from Battle Net.' The species had to do well in both official League matches and regular Battle Net games.

When the League season neared its end, even if a species didn't have that many losses, there were cases in which a species that’d earned more points in regular games ended up in a higher place in the rankings.

'The Planet Pioneer competition… We did well at first, but then we ended up getting wiped out by the elves.' Before his regression, even though humanity had struggled and been in the lower ranks, they’d managed to hold a high score in Planet Pioneer until the elves ambushed them.

'The guilds have to reach an agreement, but I'm not sure if that's possible in three days.' He remembered that, back then, the atmosphere had been bad because humanity had lost three consecutive times, and each country’s guilds competed for profits and advantages in the lineup.

The situation was completely different from back then, so things were probably going to be better.

"Uncle,” Sae-ah said. “HaYeon wants to know if you can go down to the guild offices."

"HaYeon? Is it because of the Planet Pioneer competition?" JiHan asked.

"Yes. She says there's a problem with the lineup."

The Bloom Guild could send 25 players for the competition, but the majority of its players were on loan, so he guessed that’s why she needed his help in selecting a lineup. "Got it. I'll go."

Within the Bloom Guild’s office…

“Mr. Sung, it's been a while!" HaYeon happily greeted JiHan.

"Indeed," JiHan replied.

"I've always wanted to express my thanks to you, but it's been hard to do so since you're so busy."

"Your thanks? Did I do something?"

"You've become the top-ranked human!"

Why was she thanking him for that? JiHan gave her a confused look.

"The condition for my Gift rising in rank was to make one of the guild’s members the top-ranked player within our species."

"Ah… that's right."

"Fufu. Don’t you feel its effects? I gave you a supercharged experience buff."

"No wonder I was leveling up so fast." JiHan recalled the games he'd played over the past few days. Every time a game ended, his level increased by two or three. He’d thought he was getting so many levels because he belonged to ‘Space - 4’.

'So it was thanks to her experience buff. No wonder I’ve been growing so fast.’' It was mid-April, and he was already at level 291. At that rate, he could reach level 300 by the end of the month and maybe make it to the end-of-the-month promotion match. That would make him the first human to attempt the Master League promotion.

"What are your SSS-rank Gift's effects?" he asked her.

"First, I can choose a player and apply a 'supercharged' buff. Besides that, it increases the chance of another Gift being upgraded."

"Oh, it even affects other Gifts?"

"Yes. It also enhances the existing buff effects." HaYeon's eyes were sparkling. "It says that, if I nurture the ‘master of a star’, the effect will be enhanced even further… It’s referring to a constellation, right?"

"Yeah, using the term ‘master of a star’ makes it seem likely."

"As expected… Mr. Sung, you'll keep receiving my buff, right? We need this mutually beneficial situation to keep going till the end!"

"Of course, such a buff is always welcome," JiHan agreed. Even after reaching SSS-rank, her Gift showed more growth potential. JiHan thought that appointing her over the guild had been a genius move on his part.

Thus, the meeting started with a warm atmosphere.

"First off… Mr. Sung, here's the guild operation report." HaYeon handed him a thick stack of documents.

"I'm sure you’ve done a good job," JiHan said. He returned the stack of documents to her without even looking at them.

"You have no interest in the guild's operation…? You should at least read the report once. What if I’m embezzling?"

"Embezzling? You can take it all… as long as you remain in charge." After selling the Pleasure's Palace's Ticket he'd gotten from the Succubus Queen, he no longer had to worry about GP. For him, HaYeon's Gift was more important than any income generated by the Bloom Guild.

"There's no way I could do that," she said.

"Seriously, you can take it all."

"Mr. Sung, the Bloom Guild shines because you're here. The reason I called you here is a good example of that."

HaYeon opened a new window on her monitor with the title of [Request for the Bloom Guild's lineup configuration] at the top. Names of world-renowned players started to pop up one after the other—players like Oliver, who'd fallen to the 2nd place, and every player to 100th place were listed.

"What's this?" JiHan asked.

"It's a list of players who want to join the guild for the upcoming competition. Everyone from the world's ranking 2nd to the 100th is listed here and hopes to be able to participate with us."

"These people… aren't they going to enter with their guilds?" JiHan asked in disbelief. When he heard there was an issue with the lineup, he thought players were leaving to compete with their original guilds. He never imagined that everyone was hoping to join the Bloom Guild’s entry lineup.

"I've talked with representatives from other guilds… and everyone agreed to concede the title of 'First Guild' to us," HaYeon explained.

In the upcoming ‘Planet Pioneer’ competition, every participating species had to designate a ‘First Guild’.

Although the members of the ‘First Guild’ received a significant enhancement buff for being the 'First Pioneers', there was a penalty that, if all members of the ‘First Guild’ died, the species would immediately be disqualified.

"The ‘First Guild’? Didn't America First or the People's Association want it?" JiHan asked.

"Everyone unanimously let us have it."

"To be more precise, you made them support us by quietly threatening to adjust their guild member count,” GaYeong butted in.

"Oh, my… GaYeong. People might think I threatened them. Shouldn't the guild with the world's ranked 1st—someone who'll become a constellation candidate—have the position? I just appealed to their sense of rationality."

HaYeon had set things up. That made a lot of sense, and JiHan smiled and nodded. "I was trying to secure the position, but you organized things already. Good job."

"Fufu. It was nothing~ What should we do about the list?" HaYeon asked.

"Let's pick one person from each of the 19 participating guilds besides us."

"Not by ranking, but one from each?"

"Yes. I think the players with the 'First Pioneer' buff should lead their respective guilds," JiHan explained. The buff had been announced by Battle Net in advance, but the only detail had been that those within the ‘First Guild’ would be fortified.

HaYeon’s eyes sparkled with interest when she saw how confident JiHan seemed. "Mr. Sung… by any chance, did you have another prophetic dream?"

"It’s just a guess."

"Hmm~ Mr. Sung, have I ever appeared in one of your prophetic dreams? Now that I think about it, you were quite confident in the potential of my Gift, which I’d given up on when you recruited me."

"I'm also curious," GaYeong said. After unlocking a hidden bonus in a timely manner, people concluded that JiHan definitely could see the future.

'I'm only aware of bad endings with these two.' JiHan made a bitter smile. GaYeong had died at the Sword King’s hands, and HaYeon had become a gambling addict with a burned face. He’d already prevented those futures, though—the Sword King had returned to South Korea, and HaYeon had given up on gambling while her abilities became famous worldwide.

JiHan lightly said, "HaYeon…  don't gamble."

"I… I've already quit that!"

"GaYeong, you should have enough GP."

"GP…?"

"Yes, so that you can revive anytime on Battle Net."

"D-do I die in the future…?" They knew how amazing JiHan's ‘foresight’ was, so GaYeong sounded terrified.

"No. Just be careful." With those last words, he left the office,

GaYeong gave HaYeon a worried look and said, "Miss… could you give me some of my salary in advance?"

"Y-yes. I'll give you ten years upfront." HaYeon quickly transferred the GP to GaYeong. Although JiHan had spoken in a light tone, the two took what he said very seriously.

Three days later…

[The League’s 'Planet Pioneer' competition is starting.]

[Humanity's ‘First Guild’ is the 'Bloom Guild'.]

Flash—!

The first to be summoned were the Bloom Guild’s members, and the members of the other 19 guilds were summoned afterward.

"So this is the planet we have to pioneer…?" someone asked.

"Is it a desert? What are we supposed to do here?"

While the players were chatting with each other and looking around, a message appeared before them.

[Pioneer the planet and complete your colony while competing with rival species!]

[The species that completes their colony will keep receiving rewards based on the colony’s completion level.]

“A colony…?"

"They haven't told us what the rewards are."

Although normal players received those two messages, JiHan was presented with an epic quest and shown a surprising reward.

[Epic Quest.]

- Fully settle the colony and enter it in the Hall of Fame.

[Reward: Star Stat Enhancement]

'I guess it's talking about Martial Soul?' If the quest would enhance his Martial Soul, he had to complete it no matter what.

[Would you like to check the Hall of Fame?]

"Yes." The Hall of Fame window popped up, showing him the top 100 names. 'I just need to be among the top 100.' Even if he read the names, he would most likely not recognize any of them. Thus, he only briefly checked the score before his eyes widened in surprise when he saw who was in 100th place.

[100th place - Artmu]
