Chapter 276

"Wouldn't that be treason…?" Dongfang asked. If one took the Wandering Martial God’s command to Longinus literally, then the order was solely for Longinus. Since the being had given the order, though, the others should have been able to understand his intent and also hunted JiHan.

"Are you saying that individuals at the level of constellations should all rush to capture just one player?" Gilgamesh asked.

"That's…"

"I'm sure Longinus also doesn't want that," Gilgamesh said to the conflicted Donfang Shuo.

"Longinus doesn't want it? That's…"

"He's right. I don't want your help,” Longinus said, appearing from behind Gilgamesh. “I'm going to kill Sung JiHan by myself."

"Longinus… Do you really want to do it this way…?" Dongfang asked.

"Of course. Were you thinking I needed help against a single human?"

"Sung JiHan isn't 'just' a human."

"That makes me even happier." Longinus smiled, still standing behind Gilgamesh. "Because that would mean my end."

"Longinus…Have you still not given up?"

"On death? Of course not. I've… always wanted to die."

Dongfang closed his mouth when he heard Longinus’s answer. He had personally become a servant so that he could live for eternity, but Longinus had always wanted to die. They had completely opposite views on life.

"Longinus, I understand that you want to die, but… it doesn't matter how much I think about this. This is too inefficient. Just one of us helping you would mean JiHan's end."

Even if JiHan was strong, if two servants of the Wandering Martial God, each at the level of a constellation, were to step forward, he would have a hard time beating them. Naturally, sending more would be better than sending the still-recovering Longinus.

"That may be true, but I don’t want you to intervene," Gilgamesh said.

"Why…?"

Gilgamesh gave a weary smile. "It's simple… He woke me up."

"What?"

"If he woke me up, there's a chance he could wake up the third servant."

"Are you talking about that third who hasn't woken up even once…?" Dongfang asked.

"Yes. That's why we should give him a chance." Gilgamesh looked back to the center of the Fight Star, where the Thunder God’s Divine Throne sat. The Wandering Martial God, who’d been sitting there for a while, was missing. "You haven't forgotten the rule that states you must follow my will when the master is absent, right?”

"I remember." Dongfang nodded.

"That's why you should leave this matter to Longinus." Gilgamesh looked at Pythia. "What about you?"

"I never intended to intervene in the first place~ I'm just going to watch," she said.

"Okay."

"I’ll go and handle this matter right now," Longinus said.

Gilgamesh raised his hand to stop him. "You need to recover before you go. You should be able to at least use the God-killing Spear."

"I can use it."

"In that condition? The only thing you'll be able to use is probably a weak imitation. There's no deadline for our master's order, right? Go when you're ready."

"Understood… I'll go after recovering."

Gilgamesh’s words held the most authority among the five servants of the Wandering Martial God. Although displeased, Longinus nodded and disappeared.

'I thought Gilgamesh was helping JiHan… but judging by what he said to Longinus, that doesn't seem wholly the case…' Dongfang was skeptical of the Wandering Martial God, but he was still bound to him. Thus, he’d first wanted to follow his master’s orders without going against their spirit.

If Dongfang collaborated with Longinus, that would be JiHan's end, but Gilgamesh stopped him and even gave Longinus an order to recover first so he could face JiHan at full strength.

'JiHan is as strong as Longinus in his current state. If Gilgamesh wanted to help JiHan, he would have sent him right away… What is he planning?' Pythia also gave Gilgamesh a wary look.

'Enter a special code?' JiHan looked at the new feature that appeared after Martial Soul received an upgrade. At the moment, he’d sealed himself away to train and research the new feature. He already knew what a ‘code’ was. He’d already seen Longinus’s Extinction Code and Dongfang’s Sealing Code.

'I'm not sure how to input a code…' He'd unlocked the feature, but the system window didn't teach him how to actually use it. "Manifest Code." He even tried to say some words out loud.

BZZT—!

In the end, he tried to write the Extinction Code he’d seen on his sword with his finger, but nothing happened.

[What are you doing…?] Ariel asked.

"So it failed," he mumbled. ‘The videos I saved don’t show how to use the codes…’ Whether it was Longinus or Dongfang Shuo, whenever they used their power, characters appeared on their own—they never manually wrote anything down.

He kept trying to figure it out as he used their God-killing Technique until he gave up and decided to take a break. ‘It doesn’t look like I’ll be able to figure it out right now.’

"Uncle, have you finished training already?” Sae-ah asked when he reappeared. “That was quick." She was no longer surprised by how often he appeared and vanished.

"How many years has it been?" JiHan asked.

"…Five days."

"Ah, so I was in there for 100 days."

"100 days? The time dilation seems much more effective than it was before."

"I upgraded it," JiHan said.

"I see…" Sae-ah nodded and then asked, "Uncle, did you reach level 300? You haven't been playing, so many viewers are asking what you've been doing."

"Yes. I reached it during the Planet Pioneer game."

"As expected… I'll let people know. That means you won't game until the promotion match this month, right?"

"Probably?"

May… The month’s schedule was relaxed, and all JiHan had to worry about were the next Space League match and the promotion match, both of which were scheduled for the last week of the month. That meant he had more time to train.

"Has anything unusual happened on Earth?" he asked.

"No. It's been really peaceful,” Sae-ah said. “We're still in 1st place, so dungeon portals haven't been appearing at all." Luckily, humanity still held the top spot thanks to all of the points they’d earned in Planet Pioneer. Of course, they were still fairly low-ranking when it came to daily points.

Many specialists believed humanity would still hold the top spot for a while thanks to all of the excess points from Planet Pioneer.

"Many people are even saying that things are better than they were during the Tutorial Season. Dungeon portals haven't been appearing at all in the bottom 10% of countries, and even the ones that occasionally appear are quickly dealt with by the Battle Net Association."

"It's all thanks to me," JiHan said.

"Yes. At this rate, people might build a statue of you, Uncle. Maybe they already built one somewhere…?"

"I don't like how that sounds."

"Well, a cult worshiping you as a martial god has already appeared."

"A martial god?" JiHan smiled bitterly. Why would they choose the title ‘Martial God’, out of all things?

"If you become a constellation, Uncle… It might actually become a major religion."

"I'll have to take care of them before that happens."

"Still, they gathered because they like you… but I guess you can say you aren't a god during your next stream since the believers have steadily been increasing in number.”

"Okay." Aside from those cult-related issues, the situation on Earth was peaceful. 'Since nothing much has happened, I can keep focusing on training.' He checked the schedule for the month and decided to go into training for another 300 days, determined to figure out how to use the codes before the end of the month.

Just as he was about to go back into training, he received a message from Pythia.

- Gilgamesh has awakened.

- Already? But I still don’t fully understand Celestial Tree's Descent.

- You used Gilgamesh's power to turn a god into chains, right? It seems that was enough to wake him up.

Using the Thunder God as a material for chains and eliminating an ancient elf with that had woken Gilgamesh up. JiHan thought for a moment about the generous being who'd given him many things until his death. His eyes widened upon reading Pythia's following messages.

- And… our master is trying to kill you. Longinus is going to be dispatched.

- Seriously?

- Yes. It seems that he became wary of you after you killed a god and a constellation simultaneously.

- Isn't he too fearful for someone who's known as a martial god?

- Right? Why's he so scared? The Wandering Martial God is being too petty.

Despite being his servant, Pythia was gossiping about her master.

- If he wants to kill me, then why did he decide to send Longinus instead of coming himself?

- Master disappeared after Gilgamesh woke up. It seems he gave the order before disappearing. I don't know why he specifically mentioned Longinus instead of Dongfang Shuo or me, but… he ordered him to kill you with the God-killing Spear.

- Does that mean, as you previously guessed, that both Gilgamesh and the Wandering Martial God are the same being?

- I'm not sure… That doesn't seem to be the case. Gilgamesh helped you, after all.

Pythia told JiHan what had happened.

- Gilgamesh wants to protect me so that I wake up the third?

- Yes. He wants the third, who has been in eternal slumber, to wake.

- The third servant… Who is he?

- He hasn't woken up before, so I haven't seen him. I've just heard his name. He's Ashoka, the Great King of India's Maurya Dynasty.

JiHan searched up Ashoka, who was apparently regarded as a great king and was famous for reviving Buddhism.

- I always thought his power was related to water. Since I'm water, he must be fire. Do you know what the name of his power is?

'Of course I know…' Before he regressed, JiHan had used up to the second God-killing Technique thanks to his skill window. He'd tried to learn the third, but humanity collapsed before he was able to use it. He’d already regretted not learning it in time.

'Why can't I remember it…?' JiHan blinked his eyes in surprise. He’d clearly remembered it until not long ago. Since he'd even used Celestial Tree's Descent, he wondered if he should challenge the other God-killing Technique. How could he have forgotten it since then?

- I don't know…

- Is that so? Perhaps it's because he hasn't woken up before. That's unfortunate.

- No. I remembered it until recently. For some reason, that memory was wiped from my mind.

- How could that be? How does that even make sense?

- I'm also confused.

- Hmm… I'll try to figure something out on my own. I'm curious about why Gilgamesh is trying to wake him up.

- Okay.

- You should start preparing for Longinus's invasion. He's really strong. I'll let you know once he makes a move.

It was as if Pythia had become an internal spy from the Fight Star. After providing him with all sorts of information, she stopped sending messages.

'Longinus is also comparable to a constellation. At my current level, dealing with him will be hard.' JiHan had subdued an ancient elf, a being at the level of a constellation, but he knew he hadn't done that thanks to his skills—the Thunder God being turned into chains had played a big part.

Fighting Longinus without such an element wouldn't be easy, and if he used the God-killing Spear, such a difference in strength would only widen.

'I need to use any means possible to become stronger.' After thinking for a while, JiHan sent Artmu a message.

- Artmu, could I bring the dragon heart to you now?

- Oh, a dragon heart? Of course. Come to the smithy! I'll open a portal for you!

After his class changed to 'Interplanetary Martial Arts Interpreter,' he was able to use fire mana more smoothly than before from the Dragon Lord’s dragon heart, but the item was too good to only be used as a source of fire mana.

'I should use it right away.' JiHan walked through the portal Artmu had opened for him.
